Building Control Guidance on Retro-fitting Solar Panels

I'm not a structural engineer but work with qualified roofers. The problems I would worry about are the roof collapsing under additional weight / down-force due to the roof slipping off the wall plates. I would never fix to a batten and I'm pretty sure all of my roofing friends would advise...

Feed in Tarrif - Post April 2012 - concerned?

Thanks for the data Ted - I agree with your sums (I had mis-red some cumulative figures as monthly). So on that basis the install rate could go up by factor of 2 or 2 before the money starts running out? I still expect the install rate to drop in April and for it to get tough for some people...

Feed in Tarrif - Post April 2012 - concerned?

There is currently 70MW of PV a month (over 25,000 systems) being installed with around 100,000 done in 2010-11 so by my reckoning they can't afford to fund the system if install rates continue. I expect install rates will drop a lot in April due to the proposed cuts in FIT, we will have to...

Standalone system in a mobile catering unit ideas please

Panels, batteries and off-grid inverter will work well in summer but won't run a microwave and will struggle with a fridge. Generator will probably work out cheaper and cover large loads like a kettle. Have experience of off-grid stuff, get in touch if you need help Paul

This insurance excludes electrical and mechanical breakdown and manufacturer's warranty and is capped at contract price with £500 excess. IWABIZ cover is back to back (actually provide useful cover as far as I can see) but is more expensive. As everyone else gets the cover I see it as becoming...
