Help with wiring up a contactor and stop switch to a VFD

Morning, I'm building a small control panel for a VFD, The VFD has 24v lines for motor run and stop, these use a momentary switch. The stop button provides a braking function for the motor through the VFD. I want to connect a contactor between the VFD and motor to safely isolate the motor. I...

    Phasing nightmare

Michael, what they have been getting at over the last 9 pages but have failed to mention, is that electricity wastes a lot of energy in heat (amounst other things). Any motor / transformer etc gets hot, that's energy loss. It's an unwanted part of either converting voltage (transformers) or...

Why does a starter motor have a cog which connects to the teeth around the edge of the flywheel then?

Motor difference - 230v TP or 400v TP.

Will using a motor as 230v TP give the same motor performance as using it at 400v TP?

Motor difference - 230v TP or 400v TP.

Yes VFD :) I'm meaning more in terms of power output from the motor, would the torque be the same? I'd be saving around £60 to use a 230v single phase to 230v TP VFD. Plus whatever saving on isolators / safety switching gear etc.

Motor difference - 230v TP or 400v TP.

I'm building a new head for a milling machine using a three phase motor and VFD. VFD's seem to be much cheaper for 230v rather than 400v, is there any disadvantage to running a motor at 230v TP than 400v TP? I have a 400v three phase supply. Thanks,

    What's is this socket called?

Sorry, just found the notification email in my junk folder for this. Your probably right, the machine is an Aceira F3, it's Swiss and probably 40 years old, so very impressive! i appreciate the help and yes, much easier to change to a new style plug and socket!

    Flourescent tubes in cold weather.

I need to replace some flourescent tubes in my workshop. They are F100W/35 with 1/2" distance between c-c of pins. These old tubes are not the best in cold weather and take a while to start. I'm wondering if new tubes of the same type will be better or should I change to something like T8...

What has happened to the trade?

It was exactly the same when I worked in factory's. All the old people standing around moaning that the company were taking on Polish staff as they were cheaper. Instead of getting on and proving their worth they would just moan about it. Pretty much the same as in here! If you want to do...

    Dewalt 24v drill for spares.

I'm moving out of a property and have some stuff to get rid of. I have this 24v Dewalt drill, I believe the motor and speed controller work, some of the casing is missing, although I might have it. If anyone wants it they can have it, either pick up or pay postage. I'm guessing £12 via parcelforce.

    7 Day cooling of period?

Isn't this only for cold calls? ie. if the customer has contacted you to visit, then it's not applicable.
