Hi,
if you are doing any alterations or additions it is quite likely that you will be issueing an EIC or a MWC, and "the contractor shall record any defects found in the existing installation"
and all your aforementioned rcd absenses sound like worth bringing to the owners attention, and I...
Must be very close to supply transformer, normally you would expect 240/460volts.But I don't see any
reason why you couldn't treat it as 3 phase provided you have it suitably labled up.You should try and balance your load as much as possable. It's unlikely that you would have many loads using...
Ryobi do a great range of about 30 odd cordless power tools --all useing the same 18volt battery--I've just invested in their radio which seems very robust--they also sell a lot of kit bare--ie,power tool only so you don't end up with a load of duplicated chargers and batteries.--My only gripe...
Thanks doomed,,but I am more concerned with their useage/lack of usage/ -----and the lack of knowledge by us"experts" in the electrical community
I worked for a while in Ireland and found standars there rather low, above suspended ceilings it was like a spiders web, cables on the ceiling etc etc, and as for the distribution boards, they were a fire hazard in the making
Seen some rough stuff myself alright--At least we make the effort...
Hi sparky dan ,you dont mention if you want the window to close again automatically after the fire condition has cleared or if this is to be done manually.? But if you want it to be totally automatic open on fire and close when it clears you will need to install an additional changeover relay...
In Canada (& us) their rcd sockets are rated at 6 or 10ma rather than our requirement for 30ma.
They call them GFCI's over there....ground fault circuit interupters.
Maybe we'll have to go to 10ma as well;) in the 18th
Hi all,
I remember when the use of rcd socketsfirst became widespread(before they were generally being incorporated in consumer units) We were told then that there were two types "latching" and "non-latching" . The first type would re energize after a power failure --usefull for a...
Yes..but you might also wish to get the condition checked with respect to insulation breakdown occuring
between live and neutral, which WILL require the disconnection of current useing equipment. Its your house thats getting renovated and now is the time to check for potentially looming problems...
Hi Daisy
just a few pointers
1--your time delayed one would be closest to the origin.
2--you would have structural steelwork supplementry bonding efectively lowering
your ohmic values
3--have a look at table 41.5-----30ma Zs1553ohms
4--if each sub board is supplied TT they could be treated as...
Yous boys get away with some shoddy workmanship over there.I've yet to see capping in use over here (N.Ireland) We ALWAYS use conduit tracked into the walls.. I couldn't believe the stuff I saw
in London---just like the o.p.'s photo.
Dunno about being illegal!! bit of a fire risk maybe if used for drying clothing or maybe a newspaper could blow against it.They should be used with a guard same as an open fire.
sounds like it will cost a bomb to run this 6kw heater! I doubt very much that you would need anything so powerfull.
How much is electric nowadays 15p a kw/hr ? times 6 =90p an hour
you might find it a lot cheaper to run a small bore loop of plastic pipe off the central heating system...
Transient overvoltages spring to mind.mov--metal oxide varister might cure it.If your friends house is very close to the supply transformer you could try upgrading his mcb to one rated at 6 or even 10ka
I thought it might be something to do with the pins oxidizing or some coating forming over them, and the lampholder socket being of disimilar metals. And the slight movement was enough to scratch through this coating and establish contact again. I would be interested in finding the real answer...
Hmmm---Ideally they of course should be on their own circuit--but I dunno if i'd agree with the 15litre bit though.some of these instantaneous heaters and showers only would hold a couple of litres.
