    Volt Drop

Why are you worrying about VD from the house to the back yard - how long is the run ..size of a football field! Also you may find that LED drivers normaly have a voltage rating from 110v - 240v A.C and as they normal are run from a constant current a slight voltage drop is not normaly an issue...

    Outside Lighting

Get Ambient PIR flood lights (LED would be best for your electric bill), replace the current lights with these, or PIR lights and 1 ambient sensor connecting all the light together. Bypass/remove the timer this would surely be the easiest thing to do with Britains ridiculous sunset and rise...

    rcd problems please help

If the shower is tripping when it is not in use then its would lean more to a faulty cable/connection due to the fact there is no load being used surely ? Therefore check all connections you can access, do IR test then r1 + r2 see if any reading look out of place! Zs test will probably not tell...

Does each bedsit require access to there own CU to reset a tripped unit etc, or can they all access the main CU? Also even if you did meter the individual rings (which should be fine) what do you propose to do regarding the lighting circuit - individual rooms and shared?

Regulations for minimum distances from water based appliances/general questions.

As long as both meter and CU can be easily accessed, and there is no immediate threat of water i cant see a problem. A thought: may want to possibly place the CU within a small cupboard just incase any major water pipe leaks(spray) happen from the washer or tank , then at least it will be the...

    electric gates with intercom

I agreee with D. Skelton automated gates require a lot of thought i.e. weight of the gates, length, which way they open, what angle they open up to, will they open towards an upward angle (hill), how many sets of photo cells are required, induction loop under the ground may be wanted, etc....but...
