Hi and welcome to the forum.
What is the estimated maximum demand for the new building? You've said some three phase equipment for future use? 63A seems a bit small tbh (not knowing anything about the install, this is a bit of a guess).
Look up PEN conductor in the bgb, and see the other posts...
10-12 smokes a day, and a few beers = Electrical Improver
12-15 smokes a day, as above with a couple of chasers = Electrician
15-20 smokes a day, a few beers and a fair volume of spirits = Approved Electrician
20-30 smokes a day, some grey hairs, and a bottle of spirits = Technician
30-40 smokes...
This is why it's so important to size the cpc adequately, as often the cpc has a smaller csa than the live conductors. It's all well and good installing a cpc that will take a relatively large inrush of current (low resistance fault) for a short duration, but how about a small overload/fault of...
Pardon my stupidity Tony, how do you see when a thread is started?
New to forum . . . i've just been clicking the "What's New?" tab, is this not the way to navigate the forum?
The load also varies from unit to unit, i.e some units have three or four seperate elements. These are controlled by a few things (again dependant on unit), temperature of incoming water/ temperature of outgoing water/ users chosen heat setting, etc. And as above, not many people shower longer...
I would wait for your boss to return if it was me. Either method will be fine, but as already stated it depends on the grouping/Operating temperatures as to which method would be best to fit the price.

It would depend how the customer wanted the strategy to work? Also feed the timeclock with a permanent supply, not switched from photocell (you'll lose the time/settings otherwise).
Hope this helps

This is common practice for larger installs, would you let any Tom, Dick, and Harry loose with a test kit?
Larger projects often have a high turnover of labour, so it's quite likely that the person who has done the install isn't there by the time it comes to testing (probably a good thing tbh...
Apologies if my post read as an insult, that truly was not my intention. I was only asking to adjust my further responses. In any case i fell asleep (Bloody Codeine :sleep1:), so i wasn't much help anyway.

The aim isn't to "blow" anything, the protective device should be installed to achieve a number of goals . . . . . Protection of life, property & cable . . . discriminate with both upstream and downstream devices . . . Whilst being suitable to disconnect the circuit should a fault occur. If a...
The lack of attention to three phase installations in apprenticeships.
Fitting RCBO's to everything, just to negate the lack of knowledge/training (no, I'm not saying they don't have a place).
Atleast you now have a price to refer to when convincing your customers of value for money. A welcome change to the current "17th edition consumer unit upgrade, prices starting at £200" advertisements, no?
I can assure you these 'faulty' units are nearly always installed/commissioned wrong/poorly. That is the biggest cause of failure - every unit leaves the factory tested, not 1 in 20, not 1 in 10, every unit (I've witnessed this with my very eyes). You're also correct in saying that these are...
I see the problem here . . . . . some idiots removed the fuse!
Nevermind all you need to do is unwrap the smaller brown from the big one (right hand side of photo), put a spade crimp on it and stick it in the lower opening of the red cover (the rectangular one). . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ...
Hi all,
As above really, does anybody know of a good IPAF training facility in Portsmouth/Southampton area? I done my previous training at Facelift nr Hickstead, was a good course but don't really want to drive all that way.
Thanks
Billy
If working on major projects, it would be prudent to check with your Charge Hand/Foreman/Site Manager, and likewise they should check with you. Sadly these kind of 'mishaps' are happening more and more as companies are making "aggressive commercial decisions" (please don't get me started)...
IIRC
Ics is the fault current that can pass through the device three times without affecting performance.
Icn is the fault current that can pass through the device twice without affecting performance.
