I believe that if some how can go up on your wire size from the transformer to your place it would make a huge difference in your voltage readings. The lower the voltage the more current that your loads pull.
I guess my question is why are you feeding the stove from the garage. Please be more specific. The NEC states that if the wire is subject to physical damage then it is required to be in conduit. As stated above the wire needs to be approved for wet locations.
Sorry for the long delay but the biggest problem I see is the neutrals or white wires are hooked to the single pole switch. You sound only have 2 wires terminated to the switch and an equipment ground. I’m guessing that one of the white wires was being used for power to actually turn the light...
Normally what I do is drill and tap my own holes. You can go to Lowes or Home Depot or your local hardware and purchase self tapping drill bits and you can get a set that has 6/32-8/32-10/32 drill bits. It doesn’t cost much and then you can purchase any ground bar and make it work. I hope this...
As far as the stabs in the back I wouldn’t recommend doing that because it will cause problems eventually. It’s easier to take out the old box and install the correct size box.
The red wire is your switch leg. You can unhook the black which is a constant live wire so if you change the wiring to the red wire it will only work with the switch.
We are supposed to tell you the correct way of electrical and not cut corners. By doing this your way is against the NEC regulations. I cannot advise you any further.
Since it’s just controlling lights then yes it should be 14/3 if they are using 3 way switches on each end Not sure how it is wired but if it is working correctly the I would turn off the power and look and see if in fact it is 3 way switches.
Sorry for the delay but if it doesn’t require a neutral then you are fine. If it has a neutral existing in your old plug then it needs an equipment ground installed with a 4 wire plug. You would have to replace the cord also.
