    Diy portable power supply

I can't help thinking that just buying cordless power tools is the best way in the long term. There are very few power tools now that aren't available battery powered. I haven't used a mains powered tool on site for ages, apart from the vacuum cleaner, and you can get quite powerful battery ones...

    Cabling LED Application

Looks like the 25A output can be split equally over the three output cables. So they only need to carry 8A each.

    Cabling LED Application

Yes, you will need heavy cable if you only have one or two transformers/drivers. If you have a separate driver for each light, then the cable between each driver and light will have to carry less than 1A. The mains cable supplying all the drivers will have to carry less than 3A. No idea what...

    Cabling LED Application

The figures you've given aren't self-consistent. A pic of the lights and their packaging or data sheets might help. A 10W 12V light will draw around 0.83A so, yes, 60 lights is 50A at 12V (assuming a power factor of 1). Have you bought the lights already? If not, then 230V LED lights might be...

Power for mobile catering - batteries versus generator?

I've not heard this before. LPG is widely used in 'petrol' car engines, either as a conversion or as supplied by the original manufacturer. Conversion of small engines to LPG has been available for many years. What exactly is the mechanism for damage? Aggreko seems to be offering gas fueled...

    Installing earth rod

Indeed. If you're going to hammer a rod into the ground, you might as well use something you can extend if necessary.

Advice on pictures in the links

Seems to be included in some very new builds I have seen.

    Installing earth rod

I agree, a 10mm² rod gets pretty bendy. A 10mm dia rod is much better. ;) Actually, if you check the research, the rod diameter makes little difference to the Ra. The length is much more important.

Some on eBay. At least you can test them on receipt, unlike MCBs.

    Dimming LEDs in bathroom

If the fan has a run-on timer and the connection between the lights and the fan is just the trigger input for the timer, it may be OK.

Power for mobile catering - batteries versus generator?

How about a petrol genny converted to LPG. Very quiet and, I believe, cheaper to run than petrol. Here's a top quality one if your max load is less than 7kW: Honda EU70is Bottle Mount LPG Dual Fuel 7kw Silent Generator | Honda Engines and Generators | Gear GB -...

Making "good" an existing garden "installation"

What was wrong with both the original RCD fused spurs? For this sort of remedial work, I would test only the work I have done (unless it's easier to test the whole circuit). Where I have just replaced accessories, light fittings, etc., I don't feel that it is necessary to fill in every box on...
