Play that risky game if I was you and charge a qualified spark rate..... Just hope he's as good as you hope he his and earn a good wage off him. Fair play to you for taking him on.... Now start reaping the benefits!
Not too clued up with this one but I think it when there is use of a lot of welding equipment in use. I'm sure someone with more info will be along shortly!
Swansea college run the 2330 level 3 and have their own assessors for the NVQ, Where I did mine. Get on it asap if I was you! They might let you start the course late and play catch up from the rest that would have started in September!
I agree, I bet 99% of contractors out there just run them up the cavity and just keep it hush hush and I have no shame in staying I done and still do it this way. But if anyone does have another method bar the galv conduit route, be sure to let me know!
If the cables are run within the plaster you'll need rcd protection, you will never cut in 50mm in standard breeze block because you'll be breaking a reg from part A of the building regs.... Structure I think it is, Also I'm a Jib Approved spark thank you very much!
Ok lads, but how is it to be done on a new build now?? I can be sure of it that all the domestic installers out there aren't carrying 25mm Galv, bushes, end boxes, etc!
So how are they doing it!?!
New builds: Sockets: 450mm to bottom, Switches: 1200mm to top
Existing installation, including rewire to existing properties can be installed at the same heights as the originals providing it in such a way doesn't cause any damage to flex/plug tops...... e.g Socket fitted flat to the floor
Another thing to add, I learn about the heights of accessories before I even started my apprenticeship. My first employer told me that whilst he was looking over my shoulder during my trail period with him. Arghhhhh!
Sorry for any offence there Kauto Star, but there are thousands of posts relating to your question and your question asking if you could be a spark in 3 days was a CRAZY one! Head up!
Yeah, college 1 day a week for 3 years (2330 Level 3) and 2 site diaries (NVQ Level 2 and 3). then the AM2 along with the 17th edition course you mention at the end of my 4 years.
This is a DNO problem! 100% I have the same problem where I live, the most likely fault is a faulty joint under ground, We had the DNO out redone the joint and sorted. It only took about a year to get them out tho!!!!
Good luck to your customer...... They are gonna need it.
