    I would have been happy fitting 6 or 8 with a 60 degree beam angle . 6 would give 5100 lumens with an 850 lumen fitting . plenty of light for a living room . warm white on a dimmer .

    Depends on the fittings . I find with 500 lumen approx 1meter spacings are good and 850 lumen 1.6 meter spacings are adequate with a 60 degree beam angle which gives a good division with 400mm joist spacings

    You said saving electricity is not your concern . Swap them to 12v 50w halogen . that should give you about 800 - 1000 lumen per fitting .
