Lads I'm approaching second fix stage on my own home but can't for the life of me decide which down lights to fit .

hmmmmm . Do you have any pictures you can upload . I'm struggling to see at which part of the circuit the polarity is reversed . The inverter wouldn't work connected reverse polarity .
Did you get any generation from the panels ?
Was the meter connected LNLN instead of LNNL ?

Use the same fixings used to tank walls
I would have been happy fitting 6 or 8 with a 60 degree beam angle . 6 would give 5100 lumens with an 850 lumen fitting . plenty of light for a living room . warm white on a dimmer .
Depends on the fittings . I find with 500 lumen approx 1meter spacings are good and 850 lumen 1.6 meter spacings are adequate with a 60 degree beam angle which gives a good division with 400mm joist spacings
