CK Automatic or Irwin Vise Grip Wire Strippers?

Any idea if this style stripper would work on coax such as the old 75Ohm TV coax or the newer "shotgun" style WF65 twin sky+/HD coaxial cable???

CK Automatic or Irwin Vise Grip Wire Strippers?

Is there a reason you recommend an electricians/folding knife over a Stanley knife. I use a Stanley and it seems ok for the task so just wonder what I am missing? I of course not being a Spark, I don't get involved with anything like SWA ect just 1.5mm and 2.5mm T&E and/or flex....

Dustbuster -- Can I Use Universal Transformer at Nearest Voltage?

I have measured the output of many 12V transformers, and you would be surprised at the real world variance...from just under 11V to just over 13V. Personally, I would try to measure the output of both your old and new transformer and use that info to pick the best setting...If you can't do...

Bad Advice From A "Spark" ???

Gents, I have been keeping a weather eye on the replies, but the project is on hold for the moment due to ill health in the family.. I would say though what ever an Electrician says, and however well designed/protected the circuit, I would not have it cabled off the lighting circuit. No way...

Do people really like yapping dogs?

Strangely enough, when terriers were used by the Hunts, it wasn't unusual for them to be carried in special bags or even in Huntsmen's pockets, but that was still out of practicality, rather than treating the dogs as fashion accessories as many do now...

Do people really like yapping dogs?

Terriers were bred to bark (or bay) its in their genes..As an owner, you should consider yourself lucky if you have a quiet one... The trouble is many people buy dogs without taking proper consideration of a breeds history and then place the pup into an environment they are not really suited...

For old time House Bashers only

You guys ever come across Ruabon Red engineering bricks? You could scratch a diamond with one...A lot of the council houses around this part of North Wales were built using them, including tiled skirtings of the same stuff. Even the mortar courses were like cement...getting cleats in was a...

For old time House Bashers only

Not sure which one you are talking about... As an apprentice, you were issued a small leather wallet not much bigger than a pencil case to hold three screwdrivers, cutters, wire strippers and 81's (long nose pliers)... Later you were issued the larger leather No3 wallet which was actually a...

For old time House Bashers only

When I started with BT in the early 80's the installers were still using 1/4" hand augers to go through wooden window frames..When I came out my apprenticeship they were still issued for use in places with out electric...With regards the Raw Plug tool, was that the idea that looked like "drill...

New tool bag time, any recommendations?

What sort of areas do you work in? If you work on new builds or other building sites, I'd prefer a tool box to be honest. When I was on the tools doing telecoms work, I tried an open tote but found that tools went walk about too often. I have an old BT cantilever plastic box that is ok, and...

Sorry, my mistake, that should have been red and black as in the old colour scheme....Will investigate further when I have a bit of time but at least I know the original idea is one feasible option...

Two Strange (To Me) Finds In The Wiring...

I mention in another thread the possibility of using a redundant immersion feed as a possible starting point for a "spur" into a bedroom. I should add I am definitely not looking to do this myself as it is out of my comfort zone but just looking at potential ideas before getting an Electrician...

Garage wiring unsafe and not earthed

Could that be dangerous as the local earth could be at a different potential to N? Or does it depend on the installation being check for that after install?
