I did one a little while ago. 32A supply on the normal CU and then had to setup a 1 way CU for the Off-peak - think it was only a 6A circuit! Apparently the 6A supply is used to 'switch' the heating on when economy 7 starts.
Customer seems pleased!
What difference does it make? The off-peak tariff is no longer there so they can be on 24/7.
Some of the 'new' sockets are not near a new heater so are there for 'general' use.
Did an EICR today and found that 2 weeks ago a fairly well know heater company removed a number of storage heaters and then replaced some of the DP switches with 13A sockets to plug their heaters into, plus a couple for general use!
Not a RCD in the house - all circuits on re-wireable fuses...
I'm not a member of Stroma but I wouldn't think that is correct, no where does it say you have to have a 'qualification' to do periodics, it doesn't come under Part P legislation.
As with everything its up to the person doing the testing as to what they test, and this thread has highlighted a typical problem with testing between L-N. The priority is to ensure that a fault to earth is picked up, hence a lot of people short L/N together and test to earth, as quoted in...
I'm guessing this is not a brand new circuit so your not obliged to test line/neutral anyway.
Set tester onto continuity and see what reading you have then, it'll probably be a load that you are not aware of.
I have installed a Wylex CU, the supply cable was SWA so glanded that, the circuit cables were rear entry, nothing supplied for those knockout so had to use grommet strip! There nothing in the regs to say entries have to be fire resistant, so use whatever you need/got.
Going to install a Hager...
I did it once, nothing happened. I mentioned it to my assessor and he wasn't surprised and he did say something to the effect that they can't penalise anybody (or I think tahts what he said).
Don't know of a max temperature, but have seen some info on how higher temperatures caused by over current reduce the life span of cables! So whilst they can still work at higher temperatures this reduces their life span.
Just seen this product which will allow you to continue using your favourite consumer units next year.

As in my first post wanted to try and kill 2 birds with one stone, re mixture of earthing in one location. Existing electrode is the thin one that you can't extent. 10 years ago Ze was about 150, also its on a side of a hill and I suspect will need a few rods knocked in to get a decent...
Just done an EICR on an outbuilding that is habitable (kitchen/wetroom etc). Supply is taken from henly block in the meter cupboard, via 2 core SWA to building. At building SWA is glanded into a metal box but the box (earth) is not connected to the plastic consumer unit which sits right next...
Alarm going off randomly and sounder not giving a consistant tone, ie. slows down, speeds up, lower tone/higher tone.
Battery is about 7 years old, internal sounder not going off with external one.
