Ditto. However it was just a few days before my annual MCS assessment at the end of January that I found out they had not sent the certificate because they were waiting for my response to the survey. I was a bit irritated but just did the survey to get the certificate and tick another box for...
When I wanted a 3 phase immersion a few years ago I came across these people:
Dairy and Industrial Water Heater Elements [Immersion Heaters] - milkingmachines.co.uk e-commerce
Yes, I heard that conversation between 5 earnest people sitting down at one of the stands in the North Hall. It made me smile. We do get ourselves twisted up sometimes.
Energy storage solutions were being promoted (eg by power one and sma whose offerings are due "soon"). For the domestic market a capacity of 2 kWh does not seem much, but their modelling shows it is enough to make a difference and will keep the price affordable.
Check the spec of the inverter and you will probably find there is a small power draw when 'off' at night.
Also the load is fairly reactive so the power is less than you would expect than if measuring say current alone.
Probably nothing to worry about. If you are concerned then you could...
I have set up a few of them. The are meant to be just plug and play and all the ones I have done have just worked, even with wireless links. No IP address setting should be required as they have a dhcp client built in. I suspect it is something on the local network.
Check the physical Ethernet...
I would say yes, connect to earth, because below 23,000 ohms it can be considered extraneous and likely to introduce an earth potential......
However I note that within the last week or so there has been something on one of these forums that NIC are now recommending a value of 7,667 ohms. The...
There will be as many opinions as there are ways to do it. Although the manufacturer recommends it, he does not say 'is to' or 'must', so I think some discretion remains. He also says follow local codes and regulations. Including 7671 and MCS in that category then our UK 'code and...
The Guide says it all really:
"The a.c. cable connecting the inverter(s) to the consumer unit should be sized to minimise voltage drop. A 1% drop or less is recommended. However in larger installations this may not be practicable or economic due to the very large size of cable resulting. In...
The standards are not interchangeable.
The Aus standard is close to our G83/1 and G83/2 standards, but not identical.
(in terms of over/under voltage and over/under frequency)
It is nowhere near the over voltage setting for G59/2.
With a 5kW inverter there is a good chance you are connecting to...
Because it only tests the insulation resistance before it starts up. So if you start up successfully using the good string you can then add in the leaky string and it will keep going.
Certainly nothing specific from MCS, they say follow the PV Guide. Page 44 onwards in the PV Guide has the requirements. Must be on its own final circuit. No reason in my opinion that cannot be from a sub-board, provided the normal design criteria are met.
There may be good electrical...
Yes in principle it is possible providing amongst other things the PV is on its own circuit from the sub-board. Is there a particular issue you have in mind? The existing sub-main may not be sized for the voltage drop you will be designing for.
Sound advice. He did say to me, "At least I can tell you read the documents." And then went on to say he had had a poor week so far and recently given 30 NCs to one company. I hate to think the work involved in clearing that number.
My new 2014 RECC certificate does not show any technologies on it, although they are there on the website.
My assessor did get a bit confused by the newly revised assessment documentation given to him. It implied that under MIS3001 v4 the following requirements applied to all installations...
