    SWA gland earthing

There cheaper than other DBs so it is generally the shoddy people who just throw them on the wall and get a quick buck. The guy who put this one in couldn't even be arse to cleat the main Inc or put a bolt through the Inc supply banjo, but he did do a separate earth at least.

    SWA gland earthing

Hi all, Just having a chat with a customer who we do regular maintenance work for. They have had an extension and got another company in to do the electrics due to us not having the time. The main reason for the post is the installer has used self tapping screws on all the swa glands. Is there...

    a little help and advice

You may find this type of theory people have long forgotten, unless they are Sheldon Coopers of the world that have eidetic memories. The working man normaly remembers the important theories and calculations due to his brain cells being killed by drinking too much alchol :)

    RCD Fault (I'm baffled)

How long you had the tester and has it been in for calibration at all? More than likely though it is a faulty RCD.

Adding RCD Protection to a ring final

Surely even someone who wants a quick buck or is a cowboy would be using 2.5 as a minimum!

    The strange loop

    The strange loop

It could be simply whoever wired it originaly did not loop the circuit properly and then fed another light from that same rose. Quite common in houses to have strange unknown wires powering items that should not be on the circuit, could be wall lights if they have any that were put in at a later...

    Pir to led strip

PIR mains side is good as all of the above say, just be careful of the make of the LED driver for some reason certain makes do not like having 240v turning them off then on a second later continusously, if you experience problems once you have installed with drivers going this could be the...

Cable sizing for 24V LED lighting

I see now you mean DC so 1.5mm will handle the 3.2A d.c. easily on each strip, good thinking on questioning the 10mm cable btw :)

Cable sizing for 24V LED lighting

    If i have read this correctly: 15.5.m x 2 = 31m 31m x 5watts pm = 155w 4m x 5watts pm = 20w 2 x (4m x 5watts pm = 20w) = 40w 40w + 155w = 195w if this is how i understand it why would 10mm cable be required mate?

Cable sizing for 24V LED lighting

Is the 30M length for DC or AC power and could you show the calc of how you came to 10mm cable to run the 24v 5w strip LED's seems a bit crazy.
