UK Plazma cutter causing SPD failure??

Are you sure their hasn't been a power surge from a local lightning strike, the plasma cutter may not be anything to do with it, such equipment should by design have its own suppression and smoothing circuitry to eliminate any unnacceptable interference on the power supply.

    SY, CY None Compliant????

In different drive/motor systems you can find you get circulating currents generated and can cause other issues notedly shaft pitting from the bearings as the currents arcs from the rotating ball bearings, I have witnessed this myself on a drive setup that did require the screen to be grounded...

    SY, CY None Compliant????

That's strange from a vsd, usually the screen is grounded at vsd and motor end, two queries, why 7 core and what vsd did you use given the screen is usually there to block high frequency radiation interfering with external electronics.

Wiring an off on switch into a Contactor for electric motor?

I know this post is nearly 6months old but its essential for future readers of this thread to be reminded here what the OP is suggesting is not an emergency stop but merely a fuctional stop regardless of the actual stop button used , if you are wiring this to a bench saw as suggested outside of...

You got it, they cut the pin off and notched the rcd, put it top of the board to allow it in at the back, 100% for inginuity but not the way to do it lol. As much as this is rough you have to give a little credit.

    Non payment and sign off

@oscar21 Yes, agree it's not an ideal world but the post was cautionary and advisory, the certificate is part of the work and until it is handed over there is a position for the customer or company to deny payment regardless if they are dragging their heels for other reasons, like I said it...

    Non payment and sign off

Let's be upfront here, although I understand your frustration here there are certain directions you should not go down, although it may work in some cases it could come back to bite you on the rear hard. You cannot use the issue of a completion certificate or similar as a bartering tool for...

Is it possible to put a 16mm swa on a 40a mcb protected by an rcd

Cable calcs define your answer, is it 3m long or 300 hundred if you get my drift, your query is lacking context as to why you ask, if its simply terminal entry size then yes the mcb should accommodate a 16mm.

    Fire Alarm Relays 24V

Just an heads up here, any expansion or addition to the control system of a Fire Alarm should be suitable for the job in hand and I don't mean just functionally operational, you are working on a safety critical system so any modifications you do should ultimately meet the same level of standards...

VFD -under volt at source fault

@Gareth Blackstock Please don't take my post as any kind of attack on your intellect, I made a very good point about these kinds of controls based on your response, IE if it is crucial to maintain a set speed then it may be likely run through a closed looped system, however with the lack of...

VFD -under volt at source fault

I will note here, the link you provide to a previous discussion shows much smaller motors than the VSD you have bought, you can oversize a VSD and de-rate for the motor in programming it up but you will run into operational issues if the VSD is several orders bigger than the motor it covers, why...
