Hello I hope you are well, I have a 6mm socket radial with two sockets on the circuit, the circuit Protected by a 32A MCB is it okay to spur clipped direct to one double socket, thanks Andi
Hi all, I’m new to this forum so please bear with me. I live in a bungalow and would like to repurpose an unused shower cable to supply one new double socket. The radial shower circuit cable is 6mm and protected by a 40A mcb. My plan is to connect the 6mm cable to a length of 2.5mm cable which...
Go easy I’m new to this but.. I’ve just come across a 4mm radial (garage) being fed from downstairs 32A MCB ring. Trying to locate the connection but question is does this comply with BS7671? I can’t tell if it’s on a 13A FS or not at the moment.
So there I am trying to get to sleep at 2am this morning when a thought popped into my head. (I'm one exciting person to be with :tearsofjoy:) Not that I am thinking of doing it, ever done it or seen it done, I will still ask the question as otherwise I will be up again all night trying to work...
Armour not CPC.
By the letter of the regs 2.5mm is acceptable as the DB offers both mehanical and corrosion protection.
Just seems a bit puny on a 10mm SWA, what about a much larger cable?
Can some of the boffins explain why 2.5mm is deemed acceptable.
Cheers
Hi,
I went to look at job; it is a 2.5mm2 radial coming from the CU (from a 32A MCB) to two sockets and the sockets are using two appliances which are a 3.6 kW combi oven and a 2.5 kW 2 plate electric hob, what i've been told that it trips at the CU and sometimes it doesn't trip and the...
I'm building a small rental annexe at my own house, which will be supplied by a new local sub-main, with local metering. This includes one existing bedroom which will become part of the annexe.
This room has an existing ring final in 2.5mm, all in good condition. Rather than run two new 2.5s, a...
As the charging point must be outside the DB equipotential zone (separate earthing rod), are people using 2-core SWA for EV points and eathing via the armour?
Hi guys,
I just needed some advice on running a 2.5mm cable.
As I'm still a trainee doing my college course, I thought I'd ask the experienced guys on how I can do this.
I have made the video on youtube to explain exactly where the cable needs running.
Here is the link.
Any advice is...
Hi,
I have been testing a domestic property today and when i started to look into the kitchen sockets there is a 4mm radial from the DB going to one socket on one side, the 4mm radial is cut into and JB'd and 2x2.5mm cables run out forming a ring for the other 4 sockets...
Does this obey regs...
Quickie - Would you say this is ok?
32A MCB feeding 6mm T&E which is then connected to a 2.5mm T&E & 1.5mm T&E cable via a 30A terminal block in plastic terminal block housing buried in stud wall.
The 2.5mm feeds a 3kW immersion heater with 13A SFU at the heater end.
The 1.5mm feeds gas boiler...
Hi all
Working on a site with a general builder who planned on doing all the electrical work - total rewire - on the job, and is miffed because the home owner decided to call in a qualified electrician and get his certificates - builder has run some lighting cables, any old cable he had lying...
Hi guys I'm needing new extension lead to power light and music centre and have plenty excess 6mm & 2.5mm and 6metres 1.5mm grey twin and earth cable, plugs, sockets and grommets etc. Have basic knowledge of electrics just wanting opinions on using 2.5mm twin and earth cable a new 13 amp plug...
Hi,
Just replacing some kitchen sockets and the existing wiring wont reach the new sockets as the N & L are reversed. It's been a while since I did any of this as my qualifications are in industrial electronics. Firstly can I use 30A connector block? or Wago connectors? and if they wont fit in...

If someone has run a 2.5mm lighting circuit spurred from a ring final on a B16 breaker, I am assuming there is no need to have a fused spur where the lighting circuit comes off the ring final?
I am building a garden office and currently have 25mm Celotex in the walls. I am running the ring main around and then want to add some more Celotex.
My question is how much of an air gap do I need to leave for the ring main?
Afternoon men (already bored of the football!)
for radials circuits that are to be installed as 100,101,102,103-table F6 is your friend!
but when it comes to ring circuits wired in 2x 2.5mm on a 32amp it always confused me a little!
-I know that 20amps per leg is the magic number- so the...
Just wondering what folks would do if you came across this on your travels. 4mm radial sockets circuit, on 32A MCB. Two branches from the CU, one supplying 6 double sockets, wired entirely in 4mm, so fine. The other branch consists of a 1m run of 4mm to a double socket, then around 5m in 2.5mm...
