Hi
Today I looked at a bathroom to do a renovation and noticed it had an electric shower with a 2.5mm T&E powered from a 13A FCU
Apparently this was tested and a cert was issued by an NICEIC electrician last month.
I'm relatively new to this but would have thought it would need to be at...
Hi all,
Having currently finished a new install comprising of offices and an adjoining warehouse we have now been told by our QS that we need to change upto 99 breakers across 17 DBs!!!!
Basically we have installed a lot of 2.5mm T&E radial circuits serving floor boxes. The runs are a max of...
Hi all,
Edit: sorry I meant 6242hy
I am moving house on Friday (Lancing to Sompting , so not far) and since I don't really work in this industry any longer, I no longer have need for some twin and CPC, so if anyone is local to West Sussex and can collect it before the end of Wednesday evening...
I was called in to a recently finished house extension as the heating wasn't working, plus they needed
the alterations tested for building control.
There was a kitchen extension to the back of the house plus a 2 store extension to the side which was an office downstairs, plus 2 bedrooms and a...
Hi all,
The title says it all really, I am just wondering what method those of you with more experience use to surface mount cable to hard breeze block, the kind where your nails either bend of just fly off lol??????
In my case, I need to mount cable to an unplastered garage (internally) made...

Hi I recently ripped out a ring final circuit out of an old Proteus 3ph board. Customer only wanted a single 2G socket replaced. The MCBs are obsolete so I had to re use the C32 used originally supplied the ring.
can I use 2.5mm cable?
32A radial but with 2.5mm cable- not something you would see...
Got a ceramic electrical hob with 4 rings. All add up to 6kw. The only instructions for installation are
"For UK only
A Switched Fused Connection Unit to BS 1363 Part 4 is
recommended.
The fuse must be rated at 32 Amps"
Is there something I'm missing but surely the hob should be...
Hi all
I was in need of some 2.5mm twin and earth for a spur, was passing tool station and called in.
Got Twin & Earth Cable (6242Y) Grey 2.5mm2 x 25m -
But when looking at the cable its got written on it: 2.5mm + 1.5mm.
So it looks like the live and neutral is 2.5mm but the earth is 1.5mm...
I have a small wiring extension to undertake and have an unused 50 metre roll of 2.5mm Twin and Earth (Red and Black). The roll is about 15 years old (its been in the loft), and I was wondering if it is acceptable to use this, or whether it was 'past it sell by date'?
Thanks.
HI all
I know neutral faults can be hard to find, different techniques are aways good to learn.
I went to a clients house to fix a faults and look at the ability of the house to accept a new modern board. They almost drilled though a cable stopping before they went thought the whole cable.
I...
Hi all what would be the best option. A client has an existing armoured cable that is spurred of the living room socket via a 13a FCU, the armoured cable is then run to a shed, were they used to have a lights. Now as the shed was rotten then have taken it down to replace it. This time they would...
Can some help me with this.
Ive got a debate at work about whether a house wired in this needs rewiring, if the insulation and cable condition is fine.
Can someone tell me in laymans terms why this is acceptable.
Wired 2 new 2.5mm t&e radial circuits for a kitchen and utility room
Stupid of me not to check first but I've now tried to work out max load on the circuit and I've worked out if I was to put in a 25A MCB in place of the 20A I originally planned I should be okay. Looking at around 5500-5700W...

4100/230=17.82
Would the flex be ok as it can carry up to 25A and less than a metre be used.
What do you guys suggest?
Ok just wanted your opinion 2.5mm flex provided by the supplier on cookers and hobs , ive seen this twice and in my eye its wrong a hob of 7 kw and a slide in cooker of 7500 kw , it realy makes a mock of calculating cable sizes , ok if you take diversity into effect max current rating of flex is...
