Hi guys, I am adding a lighting circuit to a Ring main 32 A. Can I just use a 6A MCB type B in a box on DIN rail to supply my lighting. I am using 1.5mm cable after the 6 A MCB.
Thanks for your advice!
I'm a novice but willing to learn. Go easy on me! re above. I have upper and lower rooms. Should I run two socket circuits or one? Total double sockets I have is 20. Boat is 15m long, 4m wide.
I am currently looking at installing some equipment in a small IT comms room and am looking for some advice on the current setup and how to proceed, I am not an electrician myself.
1: Currently there is a 32A supply being fed directly into PDU with 13A sockets, same as the the link below, my...
Hi there,
I have been asked to install a 32a supply for a hot tub for a client. I haven’t installed a supply for a hot tub before and having done a bit of research I am getting mixed answers about doing this on a PME system. I have a DB under the stairs with plenty of spare ways so I would be...
Go easy I’m new to this but.. I’ve just come across a 4mm radial (garage) being fed from downstairs 32A MCB ring. Trying to locate the connection but question is does this comply with BS7671? I can’t tell if it’s on a 13A FS or not at the moment.
We have some 32A extension leads that range from 5m to 20m, I'm struggling to find what the acceptable values are for the resistence test. The PAT tester has a built in calculator, but that only goes up to 4mm cable, this is using 6mm. Where can I find the information I need to get the pass...
I need to install a 32a single phase socket next to a water outlet. I am thinking of putting it roughly 2 foot above and a foot to the left of the outlet. I haven’t got access to my regs to can’t check if this is enough distance? Any help appreciated.

Hi all, ist post:
I have a portable appliance which is a temperature controlled heat plate, the input requirements are single phase 230/240vac 10.5a, the unit is designed and built in the US and is factory adapted for the UK market. The supplied flex that comes with the unit is 3.3 mm sq 3 core...
Nearly fifteen years ago I moved a bathroom in our house, and repurposed the 32A electrical shower circuit to power a pair of double sockets - which then had multiway adaptors powering all my office hardware (i.e. low overall power).
Not exactly complex or risky at the time, and the MCB has...
Anyone know what gland for is needed a MK 32A commando socket to hold a flex ??? Its got a thread for a gland (see pics) I expect its a stuffing gland if using flex but its an odd size.
Its for a commercial single phase oven 16Kw
I've been trying to work out whether grid switches (ie. a 20A switch) are acceptable on a normal 32A ring. I've read many threads online. Very few people seem sure whether it's acceptable but many sparks seem to do it in kitchens etc.
The argument seems to be that the switch is rated at 20A but...
Hi have a TT CU in property with RCDs, Earth strap appears fine and solid. A 25meter cable has been run from RCD as a single 32 amp cct to a hot tub that is no longer present.. I want to reroute the cable
to a garage for lights and sockets. The main question is do I need to use another RCD...
I installed a kitchen ring recently. Went back to test after the builders had finished and found that the CPC is broken somewhere inaccessible, everything else tests normal. I’ve got continuity on live conductors, and even with the broken CPC, each socket is connected to the CPC and tests with...
Hi all
What are the thoughts on fitting a male 5 pin plug to a single phase appliance then connecting it to a 5 pin three phase socket. Obviously only using one phase.
Rough but as a temporary measure is it against the regulations?
Found these distribution boxes which appear to do similar...
I don't know why I've not noticed before but the disconnection time for final circuits greater than 32A is 5 secs on a TN earthing arrangement. Does that mean a shower has a disconnection time of 5 secs? Although this circuit would also fall under protection of an RCD??
Also, cooker circuits...
Hi,
Doing wiring for a kitchen co. Done plenty of these recently, but we've been doing all wiring from scratch and have just run 16a radials direct from board.
In this instance it's a ballache to run back to board, and I've got a perfectly decent 6mm cable from board to oven location.
I'm...
Quickie - Would you say this is ok?
32A MCB feeding 6mm T&E which is then connected to a 2.5mm T&E & 1.5mm T&E cable via a 30A terminal block in plastic terminal block housing buried in stud wall.
The 2.5mm feeds a 3kW immersion heater with 13A SFU at the heater end.
The 1.5mm feeds gas boiler...
Any issues with installing one of these without an isolator?
The D.B is about 3 meters away and the commando socket will be mounted under a kitchen worktop for a coffee machine and there isn't enough room for an isolator.
