Evening, I have a question if I may. If I have in my garage a 2way DB with a 63 amp rcd fed from main board in house on a 32a mcb but rcd protected. If I perform an auto rcd test would I be right in thinking it would trip the main board 1st as it’s rated at 32amp?
thank you
I have two 220 volt receptacles (one L14-20 and one L6-20) that I want to mount next to one another in a standard two gang switch box. This would mean I also need a 2-gang, single receptacle box cover (two round holes next to one another, one in the center of each gang. I can find a 2-gang...
Hi all,
I bought a baby monitor which came with a 2 pin power adapter so I would need to buy a 3 pin adapter but unsure of which size fuse I would need to use.
Can someone look at the picture attached to help me determine what amp size my fuse should be. Can someone also tell me how I go...
Good Evening Everyone,
New member here. I will admit right off, I know next to nothing about electrical systems. I was a Electro/Mechanical Designer for 90% of my career, but to be honest, am scared to death of things I can't see.
Anyway, wife and I bought a new home home in Oregon recently, new...

I'm hoping someone can give me some advice on an existing 15 AMP circuit in my house. When I built in 2007, this circuit contained an outlet for the electronic ignition on my gas water heater, a single GFCI outlet in my basement, and it powered all the light fixtures in my basement (8 simple...

Hey everyone.
I have the stuff to backfeed my generator through a 30amp breaker. I have the lockout kit that prevents both the breaker and main from being on at the same time. My question is this: My generator is strong enough to run a 50 amp and a 30 amp cord at the same time. Can I backfeed...
Hi All, Been asked to fit a bathroom extract fan that a customer has already purchased. When checking the manufacturers instructions they are stipulating a double/ triple isolating switch - nothing unusual there - but they are then stipulating a 1 Amp fuse and then in brackets 'UK Only'.
This...

Tomorrow night, 5/12/19; I have got a job at a southern water pumping station to investigate a seized isolator. The isolator is a 400amp 3 phase Harvey Hubbell from about 1960’s. it is stuck in the closed position. We are able to remove the Handle and take the door off to game access. Has anyone...
Hi there!
Me and a friend would like to go busking in London. We do have two guitar amps which will be enough for the amount of instruments/mics we will be using. However, the amps still need to be plugged into a socket. Is there any way we could buy a cheap power bank or another kind of...

I turned off each breaker, one by...

Hi,
My house is about 30 years old and I have been here for 17 years. Before we arrived, the previous owner had an extension done which included a new dining room.
I now want to use that room to play music, so I have moved a guitar amp and a small PA but when I plug them in, they crackle like...
As you will see from my avatar flag, I have left the country of happy socket-outlets (Denmark) in favour of the East and I'm now in that last bastion of the good old British 5A plug... India. The widespread use of low-rated S/O's (they are typically rated 10A here) means that many small final...
I am a DIY, but not sure if my current problem is DIY solvable given my limited electrical knowledge.
I recently purchased a home that has a 40 amp line that runs to a non-working (always displays fault light) GFCI receptacle in a bathroom and then shares the current with two other bathrooms...
