Could any of you helpful lot on here give me a clear answer on the following.
Can the armouring of a 70'c swa cable be used as a compliant protective bonding conductor?
Looking at the actual size figures of armouring for 70'c swa cables and applying the equation 5.5 from page 55 of GN8 it works...
So im looking to get certified with Stroma, signed up and my first job that I can use for the assessment is a board change.
The only issue is it doesn't have bonding to the main water. Can I change the board and put the fact there is no bonding down under as an advisory?
Thanks for your help...
Hi All
Please correct me if I'm wrong I was thought that an RCD should trip when you come In contact with a live conductor. Now I have had 2 electric shocks in the last 3 months and on both occasions and the RCD did not trip. The RCD was tested and passed.
Any ideas ?
Seen something today while performing a fire alarm test at a relatively sized office that struck me as strange. Thought there was no better place to query it than here. Like I said decent sized office, 3 phase tn-c-s supply can't really say too much more about the installation because this...
Hi, testing a UNI with one main supply, which in turn feeds around 10 separate building. Each building as it own Gas supply with meter, so therefore a Protective Bonding Conductor to each incoming supply. Does the size of the cable have to correspond to the incoming supply size, or to the size...
Hello, I am studying to pass the 17th Edition and there is a question that i do not know.

Im doing some alterations in part of a school. I noticed a water stop cock that has no bonding conductor. Its not the main stop cock as that is another part of the school. I carried out an R2 from the local sub board i am working from and got 0.32.
Am required to bond it to bring it within the...
Can any of you designers out there tell me how you go about sizing the conductor from the Star point of the transformer to earth?
By this i mean if there was a HV earth electrode around a 1000kVA transformer made up of 2 X 70mm bare copper conductors onto a common earth bare this would give a...
Can anyone tell me if a test is to carried out to establish the resistance of earth electrode for a generator providing alternative supply
1)what must be agreed before test can begin?
2)Action to be taken with earthing conductor for generator before testing can began.
Action to be taken with...
B. Gas decided to a. relocate a customers meter and b. connect it to the gas main in plastic. The old meter was removed leaving a stub of pipe with the MPBC still connected. My view is that this is now an earth rod, auxiliary to the distributor earthing conductor.. Another guy looked at it and...
Ok, so I am in college studying a level 2 course (2365) and its coming to the end of year were we have to do a practical installation and then testing. I've taken the test once and failed.

Hi guys I done a quick search but could not find a answer, earthing system in question is TN-S. Supply cable comes in is terminated into two 1361 cut outs and then one set tails then go through to next door into another 1361. Am I wrong in believing that in order to test ze properly the next...
Hi,
Just want clarity on earthing conductor sizing. I know the table but wanted to know what people recommend about a earthing conductor within a PVC/PVC cable, is this earth big enough for the new board or run a separate earth at least half the Line conductor ( rule of thumb )
Thanks
I have a 3 core t+e on a 2 way switch and when it is turned off there is still 45 volts at the light. I have stripped this down to a 1 way switch and the voltage disappears. I then meggered the 3 core and it is clear. There is continuity through the conductors and no obvious fault with the...
I understand that the 16mm coming out of the service cutout is my main earthing BUT the 6mm from the m.e.t which goes to the sub db has thrown me out. Do I put down 6mm as this is lower case
Iv just complete an eicr. I have a few queries.

Hello everyone. Been asked to upgrade a consumer unit from the old rewireable type. The current set up has like 1mm in earthing conductor, does anyone know was this EVER legal???? Have a look at the pic, you can hardly see it it comes from the MET behind a wooden board into the CU.
Hi folks,
I'm project managing a 30kW PV installation on a social club and could use a bit of advice -
Main board is an old Ottermill F frame (the board has no plates; I had to track down an ex Ottermill employee who ID'd it from photo's).
We'll be installing a new TP&N 3 phase sub-board...
