I just bought Guidance Note 3 on ebay which the seller described as published in 2008. I there assumed (as in ----u-me) that it was a 17th edition version. Turns out when I received it the published date was actually 2006 and it is for the sixteenth edition. Am currently trying to contact the...
Hi cud u help, I was just wondering when you have for instance a 3phase isoltor it's classed as a 3pole sw am I right as in it sw's the 3 phases but why do u not sw the N therefore it being a 4 pole sw and y do we not sw the N and in other isolators we do sw the N
Are we now classing Neutral as a live conductor?
Reason for this is that on the Scheldule of Items tested (page 4 of Periodic Inspection Report), it asks whether the "insulation resistance between live conductors" has been tested.
Just wondering whether this refers to three phase circuits...
I can't find anything in the regs. On a ring it's fine to run a spur from the MCB (so 3x2.5mm). On a radial technically it doesn't matter where connections are made to the circuit as long as the cable at any given position can withstand the load. So how many connections from the MCB would be...
Whats the situation regarding the regs etc for using 2x 10mm single conductors bunched together for one circuit - let me explain the situation:-
I have a site that has an existing 4 core 10mm U/G SWA (+seperate earth) that is feeding a single phase sub main (small CU) and I need to increase the...
Came across a 5 metre length of unearthed inch and a half metal conduit riser with three phase, neutral and earth conductors inside. The conductors are all double insulated tails and I just wondered if it really should be earthed as it runs through a bathroom and can be touched (it'll be very...
Just a quick question
so you need 2 completed jobs to show inspector, i was thinking of using 17th ed cu upgrade one yesterday but, though all circuits would trip in required time there was quite a difference in R1 + R2's and there was a problem in my mind that oven was just fed from ring final...
Hi all,
New to this forum so I'll introduce myself as an electrician working for an NIC approved contractor in Sussex.
Last week I did a PIR on a church and the only defect was a lack of main bonding to the lightning conductor. Bs 7671 lists this as a requirement but I cannot see why it is...
Can someone tell my the test sequence should be done on a periodic inspection on a domestic house i have a megger 1552 and new to test and inspection meny thanks.
Hi there, can anyone please tell me test sequence for testing SELV ccts. Am studying for 2391 and my brains not working at the moment.
Cheers
Hello Everyone,
I am required to test my practical assessment soon and notice that my consumer unit has three RCBOs fitted.
There is a neutral wire and a cpc (beige) fitted from each RCBO. Am l required to remove these for an insulation resistance test which is 500V and may damage the RCBO...
In the process of changing a CU Ive discovered the lighting circuits are using 2x 1mm Twin and Earth though Iv not invetigated fully at this time is this likely to be a ring light circuit, if so is this common and how should this circuit be tested??? If not is it likely to be a radial using 2x...
I am sitting my 2330 L3 rig next week, one circuit is in MI, the imformation supplied states for that circuit, under wiring conductors ( as in the Schedule of Test Results) they are Live/CPC as 1mm and sheath.
I have no idea what to write down for the CPC 'mm' size.
any advise will be great,
:)
Taking over a building and starting to get PIR's for handover. They are NICEIC styley and under Circuit Impedence they have three columns for Ring and two for 'All Circuits'. The tester has filled in all columns for every cct but they don't make much sense, eg, 4mm line and cpc, R1=0.39...
hi, am going to be running a new supply to a detached garage and am wanting to seperate the building from the main houses PME and have the garage on its own TT supply. The feed to the garage will come from a 32A breaker, RCD of course..... just wanted to know what csa earthing conductor you guys...
Hi guys
I have carried out works on a kitchen, altered cooker cct, altered socket circuit to suit new lay out
Installed rcbos to circuits as they have got socket outlets on them lest than 2oamps
All tested ect
16ml main tails 16ml main earth
now the main gas and water is only 6mml...
This might come in handy when trying to understand what's happening when testing for Continuity of Ring Final Cct Conductors by cross-connecting opposing cct ends at the D/B.
This at least worked for one lad who just couldn't see it in a drawn diagram so one day I knocked this up from a few...
