I all 4 bedrooms in a rented property, there are cheap metal electric wall heaters. By design their cables are made of two wires - no cpc.They are plugged into a socket circuit with 32 A MCB.How would you code that? AThe heaters are not part of the installation, do i need to put that in the report?
When I checked out this job I had a false sense of security from a recent competent looking EICR and two new CU's that looked to be fitted to a high standard. Most of the property does have a CPC on the lighting circuit, it's just this one room with a flat roof above that doesn't. This is where...
I have a light switch where the CPC has been used for a lighting circuit and sleeved. Previously I would give this a C3 (411.3.1.1) and leave a sticker on the Consumer Unit to advise no CPC at accessory, only use class II accessories. However, the CPC from another switch the other side of the...
Wonder what’s peoples thoughts on this, upstairs lighting has no cpc throughout, 2 bedrooms on ground floor on same circuit have cpcs. Cables are wired using joint box method, Found joint box for upstairs lights with cpcs cut away, reterminated this joint box but still not getting a cpc on the...
Hello can anyone advise what they would do in this situation please. I have a wylex 100amp switch fuse that has an incoming and out going cpc connection which takes up to a 16 mm cpc. I have 16mm incoming and outgoing cpc, however how do I then earth the enclosure and the banjo as the cpc...
Doing an EICR today and had an odd, lower than expected, resistance reading on a ring final CPC.
r1 = 0.21Ω
rn = 0.21Ω
r2 = 0.18Ω
R1+R2 = 0.09Ω
I was expecting around the 0.35Ω for the CPC but was quite surprised to see the reading I got.
As this was the supply to a kitchen ring I could see...
Mainly on commercial lighting with twin and earth 1.5mm or 1mm on 6A and 10A type C breakers
Im sure there was a table in bs7671 requiring larger CPC sizes for type C breakers than supplied with twin and earth, hence why people use fb200 or singles etc
I guess it must be restrictEd by let...
I am in training and decided to do some dead tests using my second hand Fluke MFT 1653B on an upstairs ring. I did the tests at a socket rather than at the CU. Results end to end L - L 0.74 ohms, end to end N-N 0.76 ohms, end to end cpc >2000 ohms. I checked all the sockets on the ring and...
Just curious. I'm trying to find a poor connection on a ring circuit CPC by comparing resistance between the lines and cpc. I've chocced them all together at one end at the CU. I'm looking for a divergence between the CPC to line and line - line ratio. What is the ratio of CPC - line compared...
Hello all
My neighbour has a Candy CPC 220 Fridge Freezer thermostat that's on the blink.
I have bought a replacement but I can't figure out how you get to it on the fridge
to do the replacement..
I have been all over this fridge insidfe and out looking for screws or clips or anything
to...
Anyone else fed up of no CPC in lighting circuits? Its genuinely got me around the bend. 5 properties in the same street, 3 storey so cant even get in a loft to run new earthing in bah. Happy Monday folks....
20 y old lighting circuit with cpc at the board but terminating into class 2 recessed down light fittings. Looks like there is a junction box in the ceiling void feeding the light with L&N but I can't access the junction box so not sure how can prove continuity of the circuit?
Hi all,
Hope you are all well and all is good.
I'm having to install an EV charger tomorrow on a 3 phase TN C S earthing system, however, I need to TT just the charger and am going to put in a spike and run the earth only to charger keeping separate from the main supply fuse board. My question...
All these procedures for proving dead in the UK are mostly new to me .
We were expected to be competent to work safely with the training we were given, I don't recall ever being taught to prove dead as such
So is there a set procedure for proving dead in this scenario with approved devices...
Just want to see what people’s thoughts are on this, doing an EICR today. Testing the lighting circuit, 1 cable at every accessory which means joint box somewhere. Hall light is a pendant wired in 2 core PVC cable, no earth at it. Tested at kitchen light and got a reading, then tested at living...
I was looking at a job all wired in pyro. The pryo goes into the metal backbox with no flying lead, no problem can sort that out. However on the downstairs socket it looks like there has been some modifications ar some point. Instead of the MICC being glanded its just taken into the back box...
Typically the EICR I fitted in this afternoon because I'd hoped it would be fairly simple (new build home, 2007), turned out to be the only recent one that's thrown up a major FI.
Downstairs lighting circuit, 1mm T&E, currently on a 6A MCB
R1+R2 fine, insulation test L&N -> E an immediate...
Hi,
I've just been testing a ring final before installing an outdoor socket and I got an R1 and rn of 0.6, but instead of 1.01 for R2 I got a range of readings from 0.1 to 0.51 and it wouldn't settle down, so I couldn't continue the tests.
I know parallel paths could cause a low reading, but...
No CPC at switches or light points.
All lights are class 2 so a C3 on eicr.
But what do I write for r1r2, just a LIM? is that acceptable?
bit confused on this.
