This one might get the old grey matter going!
400A supply 260m run on ladder fed from BS88 fuses to sub main distribution board.
Did a cable calc using our Trimble software (was Amtech) and looked at the option of using an integral earth or a separate earth so I could use a conventional 4c...
hello guys
Client has bought fitting from online, metal cable cap at top with single twin flex dropping down to an e27 pendant with metal casing and no earth.
I'm saying client can't use them what's your thoughts?
Looking through our periodic certificate that was completed by a 3rd party, I've got a few queries that hopefully someone on here can clarify.
We've got a Schneider Prisma switchboard (S3/MSP 3.1) fed from 11kV/400V Transformer.
- What is meant by MW for cpc size of 2/TP and 13/TP?
- Is there...
I have a EICR coming up where I am sure there is no CPC in the lighting circuit, the property is rented and I am sure all the outlets are class 2. Where do i stand?
Should the circuits be rewired?
C2 or C3?
Thanks
Does it matter which method (method 1 or method 2) you use when testing for continuity of the circuit protective conductors? Or is each method dependent upon which the type of circuit you are testing on ring or radial?
I have been told that test method 1 is used for lighting and radial...
Is the continuity test for circuit protective conductors, the same test for ring and radial circuits or is there a different test for each type of circuit?
Also what is the difference between testing for cpc continuity and testing for continuity for ring final circuit conductors?

Hi I am training to become an electrician. I have a problem to solve to work out the size of the CPC. My calculations say I would use 6mm and 1mm CPC. This can't be right, can it?
Please refer to attached document for details.
Hi,
I am a little confused and hoping for some help.
I am a qualified JIB gold card spark and work with a friend (also qualified spark) as sole traders, we have subcontracted to company's for the last say 5 years doing commercial electrical and fire alarm installations.
Now we are looking...
Morning. A friend and I have been carrying out some EICRs on properties in our area. Recently, my mate has come across two houses in which the lighting circuits do not have any earthing at all. They have been run in twin and earth but the earths have all been snipped off at lighting points...
It is my reading that doing impedance tests we like a nice low resistance in theory overall and especially for earth , both Ze and R1 or both R1 and/or R2.
This makes a high potential fault current Uo/Ze, way above the allowed fuse sizes for a light circuit or many power too. So do wires really...
Hi Chaps,
Carried out a condition report today and found two lighting circuits using the same CPC, 4mm single. Seems the lighting never had a CPC and someone has added the 4mm at a later date. From what i understand the 4mm is ok but is it ok for two circuits to share the same CPC?
Thanks in...
EICR.. 80 switch fuse in meter cupbord, 16mm t&e to cu with 6mm cpc chopped both ends and 16mm earth ran along side submain.
zdb/pefc/pscc fine.
bonding from db fine.
i would never do this but struggling to find a reg number aggainst it :/
opinions appreachiated
Why was it so popular to joint the CPC's outside junction box back in the day, answers on the back of a postcard please?
I guess they never made junction boxes with enough terminals.
Evening all. I have been asked to quote a landlord for a replacement bathroom light as the old ones bayonet fitting was broken, new pull cord as it was one from 1702 which had finally given up and replace the hallway light fitting as it was hanging off the ceiling.
On inspection there are no...
Hi guys,
how would you code a SWA cable which feeds a DB within a commercial unit with no seperate CPC so only realying on the SWA strands as means of CPC
Hi all.
Been asked to fit some decking lights, customer has bought 20 of the from ebay.
0.75 flex, three core.
Initially i thought these were 230v, but upon connecting 12v across live and neutral they light.
Are these just 12v but wired in flex with a LNE?
Cheers.
