Can anybody advise on the following.
Have 4 5w led gu10 bulbs with a v pro series dimmer rated for low wattage lamps. The bulbs are dimmable but when the dimmer is switched on as soon as it is turned down the bulbs flicker badly.
Any advice appreciated.
I apologise if this is a stupid question!
What are the benefits of using 12v LED fire rated downlighters, over 230v LED fire rated downlighters?
I assumed that this is more cost effective using 12v as although they are more expensive they last longer and use less power, correct?
Can anyone...
I have been asked to fit downlighters to a hallway and also a kitchen all on the ground floor.
The customer would prefer me not to take up the carpet and floor boards above, but I cant see anyway around this? I might be lucky with the hallway and have them all in a straight line running the...
B&Q TRADEPOINT sell LAP fire rated part B compliant fixed or tilt 240 GU10 downlighters for about £6 each - are they any good? they don't have them in stock, you have to order them so its difficult to judge the quality. I have had problems with the metal clips in Robus GU10 fittings not holding...
I have been asked to install 6 downlights in a customers bedroom. The 3 makes that keep springing out at me are :
LAP, Robus and JCC
I dont like LAP switches/backboxes etc but thats all I know of them.
I intend to only offer fire rated ones but would be grateful for anyones knowledge of those...
Hi,
Sorry of the length of this but I have given it some thought but am looking to see if I have forgotten anything. Scenario:
Customer having a new bathroom and having Bruynzeel 10mm plasic cladding fitted on to a timber frame (25mm deep) and wants downlighters fitted.
1. Am fitting a hagar...
a quick question for any one who can give me a definitive answer please.
fitting downlighters in a new build house into bathroom ceiling with about 1m of insulation above.
Client has specified LED so no heat problems and i dont need insulation boxes to provide clearance HOWEVER leds could be...
Hi everyone,
I’m sure this may have been done already, but there is a debate I have with colleagues about the best type of downlighter to install, and in turn the best type of lamp to use in the fitting, and I’d like to put the debate to bed once and for all.
The way I see it is as...
I am planning on using GU10 2800k 35 degree Megaman LED lamps which are claimed to be equivalent to 50watts. The ceiling height is 2.5M and the ceiling area is 3.0Mx3.7M or 10'x12'approx. I understand that within a kitchen (as a rule of thumb) that 2watt/ft square is required for adequate...
hi just a couple of questions really, i am looking to put a socket on the wall for my tv and need to extend the ring circuit but is it ok to use new cable for a couple of legs of the ring circuit with the rest of the circuit being old existing cable or does the whole circuit need to be replaced...
I'm in the process of re-wiring a large house for a building contractor, and I'm hoping to get my NAPIT self-certification using this job. The only problem I have is that all materials have been supplied by the company I'm contracting for, and the downlighters they've supplied have no provision...
Halogen bulbs are electrical products so I thought I would ask here.
People say that 12V Halogen downlighters give off a better light but the hassles of replacing faulty transformers gives 230V Halogen downlighters the edge.
I have just read the Wiki page on Halogen bulbs and found this:
"A...
I have read various methods of daisy chaining downlighters and I was wondering which you guys think are the pros and cons of each.
Taking for example a JCC GU10 fitting. It says the terminals are suitable for loop in - loop out and they certainly seem big enough but the manufacturers...
Can anyone help me please?
I've just finished re-wiring a property, with nearly all lighting on 12v downlighters. Not too sure how to carry out the IR at 500v, as I'm assuming it will blow the transformers. To make it easy they're also all on dimmers lol! I know I have to disconnect the dimmers...
My downlighters keep blowing. Apparently LED's last a lot longer.
Any good or what? Don't fancy replacing them all if they're just going to pop or whatever too.
Hi,
I have just had my house totally rewired professionally to the 17 my electrician has not returned to do the sign off.
I am now worried that he has bodged it.
The down lighters in hallways, kitchen and bedrooms are not fire rated doo they have to be.
If they do, what would you...
Can you help me a tad confused which way to go ???
If i was going to install led downlighters in the soffit outside , i would need a ip44 rating min and and above , whats the best way to buy these .
1/ being buy a downlighter with led bulb as package
2/ or buy downlighter fitment gu10 ...
This has probably been covered before but I can't find any info on it. Can anyone tell me how some GU10 downlights can be declared class II by their manufacturer when their general build appears to suggest they should be earthed?
