Torn between the Fluke 368 (pricey) and the Megger DCM305E. Anyone have any preference/horror stories? Default is "Yellow" but the price is scary...
Seems I've fallen foul of this poor quality product;

I think I must be missing the blindingly obvious, but.....
TT system......100ma time delayed as main switch, then some final circuits (which will require 30ma RCD as includes sockets etc)...then 30ma RCD for other final circuits...
Prior to changing CU at customer's request to include 100ma...
Monitoring or evaluating earth leakage on installations should be a great tool in our fault finding skill set.
Would people like to contribute some of their experience or thoughts to build a thread of our collective knowledge.
As a starting point it's easy to assume that you would focus on the...
Hi all, another year and another problem with Christmas decorations.
I have a project with a large number of fairy lights - 230v through rectifiers, strapped to a metal grid. I am getting a pretty sizeable earth leakage per frame - around 8-10mA which increases to 15 when wet. The lights are...
Called out today by new owners to a domestic 3 bed semi with history of nuisance RCD tripping from day 1 (lived there about a month). TNS. No dual supply. No regular pattern to tripping. Most appliances new.
First - Ramp Tested RCD unit with no loads = 25mA (can live with that). Popped...
Hi guys I have been looking at buying an earth leakage tester as it seems to be a useful piece of kit to have in my collection if anyone could recommend any which would be good quality? I am also using a borrowed mft as sadly mine kicked the bucket and I'm torn between megger and fluke if anyone...
Hi, im looking for a bit of advice on what kind of earth leakage meter i would need. I will be using it mostly for domestic work to help with any rcd tripping issues. Just seeing so many to choose from varing hugley in price depending on make and sensitivity, just dont want to splash out on...
Hello, Just a little about myself. I am currently in the Information Technology Field with a focus on the rapidly developing Internet-of-Things (IoT) market. Personal electrical experience in the UK, the US & Canada.
Continuously intrigued by the history of how differing electrical standards...
Once asked if a normal Multi Meter could do most of what a PAT tester could (ie saver £££ £350 for the machine an £75 for it to be tested) <Shows how slow i am at recalling things> but some years ago i did 2377-22 and didnt recall it from there.
I do own the 3rd Edition Code of Practice for...
Looking for a decent earth leakage clamp. My last one (Megger) died a few months back and was knocking on a bit but was deemed to be decent when I bought it and it served me well.
I haven't had a need for one recently but had a job today where I really missed it. It was never a bit of kit that...
Is it possible to measure earth leakage with standard CTs and display it on a panel meter?
I want to do this for a distribution box for temporary event supplies as I don't find the little bar graph display on earth leakage relays all that useful.
Would one large CT around all four conductors...
Hi....I am new here and have a question/problem with an earth leakage tripping.
This problem has me stumped and if anyone can help me it would be great.
A client called me out for an earth leakage tripping. Was going to do the normal test to isolate the problem but then noticed that almost...
Hello all,
This is my first post so hope I'm in the right place for my question!
I sell single-phase frequency invertors that drive variable-speed borehole pumps, a product from Italy - it's single-phase 230v in and three-phase 230v out from the invertor to the pump's motor. This invertor uses a...
Hi,
I need to replace my current Tester as it has broken, I have seen this one at my local wholesaler but not sure if it is up to the job. "DI-Log DL6506", I normally buy fluke but cant justify the cost on this item as I don't use it very often but still want something that is going to be able...
Has anyone any knowledge on earth leakage clamp meters.
As far as I can make out they are identical to a normal clamp meter only with greater resolution measuring down to milliamps rather than amps. What I dont really get is why we dont have them with 2 clamps..one to measure the live and one to...
This has messed my head up so much I’m not sure I can even explain it properly but hopefully someone out there may give me ideas of what to do next…
Had a call out to a house today with the owner (polish if it has any relevancy) saying he was getting small shocks off taps & was getting a...
I've come across a problem today that has completely stumped me. I used my clamp meter on the main protective conductor and found there was over 4A flowing. Checking the line and neutral conductors, they each had exactly 2A. Obviously these numbers do not add up as if there was leakage to earth...
