    I'm adding a outside light to an. Existing install. The lights have been wired in an rb4. Can I add my light fitting to the circuit but wire it in 3 core flex instead of 1.5 twin and earth?

    Stripping SY Flex

    SY Flex Earthing

    Hi Been told by my tutor that you do not need to use a banjo when using SY Flex as the braiding is an earth. But If im wiring for a DOL motor/starter for my AM2 then surely it would need an earth? We have been told to use P-Nut Lock Nuts for the SWA, so would you use the same?

I would have thought 0.75mm CSA would be adequate for current carrying capacity but what type would be durable; considering it is going to be wound and unwound on a daily basis?

    Hi, General cable query. Is it ok to use normal flex cable where it is installed above head height ie not easily accessible or should we be using something with more protection ie SY cable??. We are talking low ampage applications (1-5a) in a pretty low haz environment. regards

    hi what length off flex can you add to an appliance ie washing machine,tumbel dryre, i cant find any thing in the reg just had a quick look . i was on a job to day and some one had 2 m added on to a washing machine so the flex was about 3 m long personaly i would have fitted a socket...

    For integrated / fixed appliances, having a fused switch spur can you then run t&e to a ko box behind the appliance and connect the flex to t&e via a terminal block? covering with a blanking plate.

    Red & Black Flex: when was it phased out?

    Can someone settle an argument? Does anyone remember when red and black coded mains flex (rather than cable) whas phased out in the UK? I say it was at least 30 years ago, my friend (who I think is getting confused with cable) says about 10 years ago.
