hi all,
had a bit of a discussion with a guy at work today, carrying out a periodic and there was a circuit wired in flex at the DB, i seem to think this is a code 2 but cannot find anything in the regs to back this up?
is it ok for circuits to be wired in flex?
Hi Folks
I'm testing a factory where a lot of circuits are wired in SY flex. The metal glands have not been fitted, just normal pvc compression glands and the metal braid on the flex has not been earthed.
The problem is, between the unearthed braid and the earth terminal in the DB, im getting...
Hi
Just wondered what people recommend for stripping 2 core round flex cable?
I have a lot to strip and terminat and just wanted to know of a tool which would enable me to do it quicker than a utility/stanley knife.
Chris
Do cookers need to be connected with heat resistant flex and if so can you tell me where the reg is. Have been arguing with a collegue about this. Thanks

Hey guys. Looking at comissioning a SMA SB10000TL and thinking about using 2.5mm 5 core SY multi Flex. Is this ok? Some places say it shouldn't be connected directly to mains supply but others say it's ok? Or what would others do/suggest?
Thanks
Went to wire up a new range cooker today and found that the manufacturers instructions call for a H05v2v2-f 6mm (PVC/PVC 90degree heat resisting) flexible cable.
Fine if that is what the manufacturer recomends, but where can you buy this in cut lenghts??.
I've tried my local wholesalers and...
Hi,
I have been asked to fix a problem with a pond pump.
The existing setup consists of an outdoor water resistant outlet that the pond pump plugs into, but the socket and plug are in a concrete box embedded in the ground and covered by a slab to look like part of a rockery. When the drain...
When carrying out the visual , there are a lot of these cables fitted with 13 amp 1652 fuses. Is the reason for this due to start up currents of appliances??.
.75 is good for around 6 amps i believe so 13 amp will not protect cable from overload. I guess the appliance would have some kind of...
Someone told me on my 2391 that when testing a lcm that all lights that are plugged in are classed as portable equipment. Is that true and is it ok to take r1+r2 and zs at the lcm

Can i run off this junction with 0.75 flex in a line to pick up 6 down lights?
Also, can i come off this junction for a new light with a switch i want to...
Morning all
Other than my local TLC, nowhere seems to stock "3 core 4mm flex".
I was connecting a new cooker up yesterday, and the manufacturer recommends "3 core 4mm flex" as a minimum spec.
Now on a Sunday afternoon, not much chance of finding any of that, so I used some 6mm T&E that I...
Hi all i am in the process of doing a pir on a residential home and they have some 3phase sockets wired in 4 core sy flex using the cpc as the neutral and the sy flex " armour" as the cpc. Obviously im going to fail the circuits for using the cpc as the Neutral but just wondering about the...
Am I looking in the wrong place? Coz I can't seem to find anywhere in the regs that suggest you can't use flex outside in areas where they won't be exposed to mechanical damage. An example would be spurring off an upstairs ring and taking the flex from its fcu, through the wall, outside, and...
