Just pondering my voltage drop calcs for a fused spur off a ring final. Additional circuit will be around 15-20m long so I though I should do this properly....
My problem is calculating the voltage drop in the existing ring to the point of the spur which of course depends on distribution of...
Hi All,
Is there a maximum length for an earthing conductor, which is connected to the earthrod in a TT installation?
If so, does anybody know what the max length please?
quick question can u cut the neutral and earth fly leads of a rcbo when installing them into a distibuton board so you can make them look somthing? the curly neutral lead is a pain i want to straghten it and cut it to fit is this allowed?:banghead:
Testing a lighting circuit with a long lead, all readings R1 R2 Rn around 0.6 to.08 ohms. Adding R1 + R2 = more than 1 ohm. Is this acceptable for recording as the result or should it be less than 1 ohm. TT system.
Thanks for any advice
Hi All,
Am installing a ring circuit of 5 sockets,10 x 5ft twin flourescents & 6 x 400w pir flood lights into a outbuilding used for storage. I am thinking a 10mm 3 core swa will be suitable.
The run is 77mtrs. Am going to stick a 40amp RCBO at main fuseboard and a rcd board in...
Hello all. I'm hoping someone can answer this (probably simple) question I have...
I just bought a surge protector mini extention cable to keep with my laptop. It comes with a moulded 2 meter cable, standard UK plug on the end of it, and on the bottom of the unit, the words: NON REWIREABLE...
Hi guys. Ive generally no problem going through the deign process of cable selection for a circuit to be installed, (i try keep my hand in now and then rather than just looking in the OSG) but when i look at a RFC as in appendix 15, i get a little stuck. Ib = 32A, so In = 32A breaker, take it...
What is the maximum length you can have of Schuco rail before you need a sliding rather than a fixed rail connector? I am sure I have seen it before in one of the manuals but cannot find it now. Thanks

Bruce
Hi all
could someone please be so kind to explain how i work out the length of a existing ring final circuit 2.5/1.5 T/E
and in turn Volt Drop
i know to work out length its L= R x 1000 divided by m/ohm/m but would i use the r1 measurement eg 0.58ohms
rn was 0.58ohms
r2 was 0.96
or from the...
Hello,
We have had a log cabin for my better half to run her company from. All wired ect, but she now needs a BT point for a Card machine.
As the crow flys it's about 35 - 40 meters from the master, which is the only point in the property.
Is there a maximum distance specified by BT after...
Hi I have a query one of you may know the answer to. I have installed some lights in the woodlands for a customer and he is using 12watt LED lights he is only installing a few i think it was 186 watts or something. I have used SWA cable 1.5 mm as it is about 200metres and worked out the...
I've noticed a number of threads regarding exam questions asking to calculate the length of a cable by measuring resistance. But I can't think of a practical situation where you would ever need to do this and seriously doubt the accuracy of the method. I know there are specialist cable fault...
Hi Peeps
I have my 2391 coming up in October and I am busy revising.
When determing the circuit length and VD, my notes say to link L - N at the load side and take the loop resistance at the DB.
The example I have is : Loop Resistance = 0.7 ohms (R) and csa of cable = 1mm2 (S), calculate the...
hi guys
after a little advice re a 30 A Type 2 BS 3871 MCB. Now i know they are old but still compliant , just checked the OSG p 49 Table 7.1 for maximum length and installation methods but there not listed.
i have the maximum ZS of 0.88 from page 103 table 2d OSG where they are listed.
can...
Hi,
Im working on site in worthing and have been asked to find out the length of an installed cable.
Cable size 150mm 4 core
r1+r1=0.3
Ze=0.06
Any help on how to calculate the length of cable would be much appreciated.
hi there guy's i have to move a consumer unit from the understair's cupboard,to the larder cupboard, which back's onto the wall, where the original consumer unit sit's,the problem i have is i can't remember the maximum length the 25mm tail's you are allowed to have, without installing a separate...
Hi
I am considering the possibility of using 2 unused and existing 95mm 4core aluminium cables in parallel to feed a new submain distribution board I wondered if any one else has done similar and may be able to reassure me on the practical and/or technical implications the length of run is 130m...
Chaps,
I notice the Schuco Rail length calculation is "22 mm + [number of modules x (module
width + 21 mm)]".
I'm guessing this leaves zero gap at the end of the rail after the end-clamps.
Are Schuco expecting their end-clamps to be flush with the end of the rail then?
