Hi everyone,
Does a mirror light on a lighting circuit need to be on an isolation switch, fused spur or can it be wired directly on the lighting circuit?
My thoughts are;
My job is to protect my cable, there I have no issue, i.5 mm2 cable to mirror light
Local isolation, the mirror does not...

hello guys,
A customer has got two way lighting circuit currently switching 4 down lights in a hallway.
The customer now wants it switched by PIR.
One PIR at one side of the hallway and one PIR at the other side.

Up for any ideas which may be better...
Hello I have just finished college and waiting to sit my AM2.
A customer has asked me to install a few PIR’S into an existing lighting circuit.
On the one way system was playing to use the S/L from the switch to feed the PIR and then from PIR to feed the lights. ( as the customer just wants...
I would like to add a couple of cabinet marker lights in to the lighting circuit, on a separate 1-way switch. Only ever added LED GU10 downlights before which is straight forward but the use of transformers/drivers in lighting is new to me.
Seems some markers are DC 12v constant voltage and...
Hi, I am just setting up as a general handyman, and I'm planning to get qualified for domestic electrical work in the new year.
My daughter has some problems with her lighting circuit, and the other wiring all needs replacing. I have the skills and experience, having done a few house rewires...
Hi
I am running a new upstairs lighting circuit and need to find a route down to the consumer unit which is in the cupboard under the stairs. The easiest and least disruptive route would be via the airing cupboard, in trunking, then under the floor from which I can drop down through the ceiling...
hi all,
Can anyone provide a worked example of rating a breaker for a circuit.
For example
In an industrial environment, we have our own HV supply and each substation on site has its own earth rod. I assume this falls in to a TT system.
if I wired (14) 8watt lights in parallel back to a...
Guys,
Just a quick one. I'm putting an LED half lantern outside on my new extension. At present I have just come off a 2 gang light switch along with the extension inside light. The 1.5mm twin and earth goes straight into the back of the outside half lantern with no wiring exposed externally. Is...
Hi all,

hi everyone,
When demonstrating safe isolation on the lighting circuit on am2 do you operate the switches and test each time you operate.
Or, just operate the switches in every position then just test once at the 2d light fitting?
Also, when commencing a ZE test would you recommend setting the...
Hi,
I have a set of 4 GU10 recessed light fittings with halogen bulbs controlled by a single dimmer switch. The circuit was installed about 5 years ago and has worked fine. This morning 2 of the bulbs weren't working when switched on. I replaced one of the bulbs with a new one and for a moment...
Hi all,
I was hoping to sneak in a little job late this afternoon - changing a faulty bathroom pull chord for an outside switch plate. No problems with access. Straight forward enough.
House is almost certainly post 60's. CPC's present in lighting circuit.
Live Zs = open circuit.
R2 test with...
Hi all,
I have been asked to install a spur for a Macerator in an existing bathroom. At present the bathroom has an electric shower and that's it, there are no sockets near or in the bathroom.
I was thinking to drop a feed from an RCD protected FCU from the lighting circuit in the loft to...
I recently had CCTV installed and the contractor installed a plug socket in my loft, spurred from the lighting circuit - which is unearthed. He added a four-plug extension lead to take the plugs for the four cameras. Is this safe? Or should I be concerned? Many thanks for any advice and help.

New Member and wannabe electrician. I'm teaching myself for now for obvious reasons.
My problem is an extension light circuit and the conundrum is:
The circuit will only work / operate from the main circuit breaker. As soon as I wire a switch into the circuit it will not stay on and...
