Hyperthetical question re Commercial Installations-
If you were to be installing a new circuit and/or reconfiguring an existing circuit which was served from a Distribution Board with BS 3871 MCB's or BS 3036 Rewirable fuses, would you suggest to the client that the existing distribution board...
Hi. Could someone confirm weather you think I'm right or not. Today I installed a ceiling mounted suspension wire lighting track in a domestic kitchen. It's fed via a fairly chunky wire wound transformer (I don't know the kva of hand). The mcb supplying the circuit is a type b 6 amp rcbo...
Hi guys after someone's knowledge, I wonder if Wylex mcbs rcbos etc will fit a volex cu as I have an abundance of Wylex and know that there both made by Electrium. Not after an argument about comparability and type testing just are they actually the same physical shape ?
Cheers
Graeme
Done a eicr on a tt no rcd protection and ze of 268 ohms.
3 Radials in 2.5mm going to 32 amp mcb.
Just been plastered throughout and some type of rewire i think, the house is going through a sale and was requested by buyers solicitor.
I was going to replace cu and put sockets on three...

Using a single phase db, how do you install double pole mcbs into this to use as a 110v db? Does the busbar need altering? As how do you get the neutral side onto them?

I always thought the stablock range green was type2 orange type 3 and black type 4. But these black ones have no info on the sides whatsoever. Anybody know if these are a type 4?
So I've come across an old MEM Memshield 1 DB which uses the older BS 3871 MCBs. I am adding a new circuit. Can you still get BS 3871 or can the BS 60898 and BS 61009 rcbo's fit in the aforementioned DB.
Its a 24 way board with only 6 ways currently used. I don't really want to turn round to...
Hi All
Wanted to get feedback on this idea.
I have 3 fuse boards which trip frequently whenever there is a lightening storm nearby. My electrician friend has suggested he swaps all the MCB's with RCBO's so that individual circuits trip rather than the whole board. Each board currently has a...
Tested each of 9 new circuits in usual way of L.O.C. and IR, all in theory ok ... CCU is a Hagar split-load dual RCD. 1-4 on RCD1 / 5 - 9 on RCD2
Aware that no requirement for "collective" IR on EIC, just individual circuits.
When tested from the outgoing L of the RCD2 to MCB busbar (all...
Been to a job where a young couple want to replace their white sockets and light switches with chrome finished. I took a look at their CU and it is a wylex re-wireable fused board with separate RCD covering all circuits. It then became clear they had no idea what a rewardable fuse actually...
just going through toolstation catalogue to order schneider cu and mcbs, and noticed they now have an "easy9" range.does anybody know if these are different to standard Schneider mcbs or just rebranded, don't want to have any compatability issues in future
Hi all. I'm facing a little problem. We have fitted some light fittings that prefer type D mcbs (manufacturer said type c probably ok, but they are tripping). Unfortunately Hager do not make a type D breaker for my 17th ed CU. any ideas how to overcome the issue?
thanks
Much though I don't like it, once in a while I use a second hand MCB - for one that has long since gone obsolete and new ones are unavailable. What about testing used MCBs before reusing them, does anyone actually do this?
I just tested a 5A MCB at a couple of values of loading, it seemed to...
hi,
i have been told that we need a 32a or 40a RCBOfor a Crabtree SB6000.
I am struggling to find these anywhere.
I wondered if anybody has experience of this board and any make of RCBO that would fit?
Many thanks for your help.
