Hi all, question im testing an installation that has 1 * 14 way 1* 12 way 1* 2 way 1* 1 way, all of the same incoming phase. 3* meters.
the qeustion is when inputing the Ze and Pfc do i take the highest reading and input this onto each test sheet or do i take a reading from each db and note...
Following on from another thread, I thought I would post up the results of my ZE and PFC.
I think the PFC results are high:
TNS
ZE is 0.7ohms
PFC (L to N) is 6.5ka and (L + E) is 4.4ka.
Would you fit 10ka breakers?
Playing with my new Megger MFT1553.
Done a test of PFC on my home installation.
Firstly I connected the to the neutral bar and the incoming line conductor at the switch and got a value <1A.
Think I must have connected it wrong and got parallel paths??
Hope I have not blown any appliances in the...
Hi i'm currently studying for my city and guilds electrical course and am stuck on this question.
i think i understand that the Zs of 0.19 means the time it takes for the breaker to trip but could somebody explain what this means in lehmans terms.
The actual question redas
Explain the...
Alreet all,
Went for an interview for a FM company recently and got asked a couple of, what I thought were, ambiguous questions.
Thought i'd find out what everyone else thinks.
1) What would you expect to find during PFC test?
&
2)What would you expect to find during Earth Loop Imp test...
Hello everyone,
Basically I have bought a new tester which is the Kewtech KT63 which i highly recommend.
However, I do my Ze test fine and for example it comes out with 0.18 Ohms, then it comes up with the PFC reading and it says something like 588.8A.
On my company's old tester it used to...
Hi,
Recently i tested to places, and when i carried out the above tests at one property i was getting a spark where the earth clamp joined the sheath off the main supply.
I also got it on a TNC-S system where it was sparking half way down the main SWA supply, and smoke was coming out of it...
hi all,
haven't posted for a while, but i have been here - reading and learning. i'm hoping to get a little advice on a low pfc i've come across.
a mate has been extending his bungalow, and wants the full rewire. i've gone to have a look, and i've basically done pre work checks to assess the...
just done eicr on a 3 phase db LI= 1.33KA L2=1.44 L3=1.48 THESE ARE THE PSCC VALUES SO ADDED TOGETHER THEY GIVE ME 4.25 KA THE LAST TEST DONE 5 YEARS AGO WAS 5.5KA NO WHAT WOULD CAUSE THIS TO BE LOWER NOTHING HAS CHANGED IN DB AND I NO THE READINGS ARE ACCEPTABLE YOUR THOUGHTS PLEASE
Can some one explain if your pscc value is say 4.6ka well in gn3 it says that your protective device must not be less than that value so say the protective device was 5ka how would the protective device trip if it's fault current was only 4.6ka please explain cheers lads
I came a high PFC in a domestic installation a few weeks ago and the consensus on the forum was that it was ok because the main fuse was rated at 33KA so the mcbs (rated at 6KA) would be ok.
Came across similar situation in factory. A PIR had been carried out by another company and I was asked...
Hey, why does gn3 say the pfc of a 3 phase sytem will always be higher on the pscc test than on the pefc?
Also when you have the pfc measurement how do you use it to select your protective conductor size?
Hi guys,
Sorry if this is in the wrong place, im new to this!
Right... Im currently doing my level 3 EAL assingment for electrotechnical engineering and im stuck on one of the questions. It would be great if someone out there could give us a hand.
The question is.....
State hot to...
When carrying out the tests: live polarity of the supply, Ze, and PFC on a TN-s single phase system, what happens to the double pole main switch? is it off or on?
Many Thanks.
When carrying out PFC test on a TN-S single phase system, where do the pfc tester leads go on the main switch is it on the incoming (top) side of the main switch or feed (down) side of the main switch?
Your help is much appreciated.
Just started my 2395 and the fact that PFC by enquiry is the preferred method has been mentioned a few times.
So, I thought I would try it for my own house :)
Called Scottish Power using the number on my bill. Couldn't get to anyone who knew what I was talking about. In fact at first they...
Hi
I am trying to carry out Ze test on a single phase system, TN-S. I am unsure where in the main switch the line leads contact is it at the incoming (supply)points or the feed point at the main switch or does it not matter?
Also is it the same for PFC?
Many thanks
Hi all.
Just a question which seems to get me a bit confused about PFC testing. I understand that the value of PFC you put on a EIC or any other form is the highest value of either the PSCC or the PEFC. Now when you get the reading on your meter (which is sometimes displayed with the Zs value)...
