Hi
I am trying to carry out Ze test on a single phase system, TN-S. I am unsure where in the main switch the line leads contact is it at the incoming (supply)points or the feed point at the main switch or does it not matter?
Also is it the same for PFC?
Many thanks
Hi all.
Just a question which seems to get me a bit confused about PFC testing. I understand that the value of PFC you put on a EIC or any other form is the highest value of either the PSCC or the PEFC. Now when you get the reading on your meter (which is sometimes displayed with the Zs value)...

Hi I was wondering if anyone could let me know what the max difference in PEFC and PSSC in a TNC-S system:
I ask as I measured PSSC 3.8kA & PEFC 3.0kA and have never seen it that far apart on a TNC-S before.
This was repeatedly the case, the tails are 25mm, 1m in length and the EC is 16mm...
Hey, I have a Megger 1553 and lent it to a friend, who is an experienced spark with 2391 and good knowledge/experience of testing. However, friend carried out PFC test using 3 leads, even though PFC should be carried out using 2 leads on this unit. Since PFC was carried out incorrectly the...

A fuse box I was working on the other day (doing such things as providing a main earth connection to the fuse box, which I can only assume was missing for years) looks like this:
Having installed the main earth, the PSSC is 8.5kA. Must be close to the transformer...

Hi,
I was testing 2 shops today. One had 2 x single phase CU's & one had 1 single phase CU, all supplied from the basement which had the 3 phases down there.
On one board the reading i got were all fine, but the other 2 i had a reading of Ze: 4.61 and Pfc: 59A. This is very high which means a...
Hi This is my first post, I recently got 2382-10 and have started to study for my 2392. I understand there will be new qualification instead of 2392. Is this correct?
and comming to the point I changed a single socket and then used Megger 1710 to test phase to earth and phase to neutral loop...
I have just been asked a question by a friend of mine and am not sure of the answer.
He has done a PFC test and found it to be 8.5 KA.
The main fuse is rated at 33KA but the MCB's (60898) are rated 6KA.
He has asked me if it will be compliant as the main fuse is rated higher than the PFC but...
Im confused about doing the PFC test in the AM2, i no you have to test N-L1-E, N-L2-E, N-L3-E but im not too sure whether i have to test been phases i.e.
N-L1-L2 or E-L1-L2 any help on how to properly test PFC in the AM2 exam would be great help thanks!!!

Mine is tomorrow...... and I think I'm just about ready! :ninja:
Just wanted to see what you guys thought about safe isolation, and whether or not I should be pulling the main fuse before taking off the CU cover to do dead tests. Will the NICEIC assessor be happy with me just turning off the...
Don't do much three phase and a bit of help would be helpful. On three phase when testing for pfc am I right in saying that I connect the leads to L-N and don't need the earth lead connected. As I'm not sure of putting the meter across all phase, so double the reading that is highest of the three...
I've always thought it was ok to get your pfc when getting the Ze. I never been flagged up by NIC for doing it this way etc before. However, I've now been told I should perform Ze seperately and the PFC separately as all the earths need to be connected.
It makes sense as it should be a lower...
Today I have been doing a PIR on a builderS merchants. The main 3phase DB is an old Melin Gerin board and the installation has a Ze of 0.06 with a PFC (PSCC) of 4.9x2=9.8KA. The MCB's within the board are rated between 3-6KA however the service fuses are 100A 1361/2 rated to 33KA
Does the board...

I've just doing some domestic periodic inspections today and 2 of my properties gave me low PFC readings of 0.52pfc, 0.40 Ze and 0.47pfc and 0.44 Ze both systems were TNS. Are these considered as a low reading as they are to what i would normally expect? and is the a lower limit to PFC?

Hi
In training at the moment just brought a Megger 1553 can anyone tell me how to connect to establish the PSCC at origin - I have done
the earth using 2 leads red - line \ green - earth and reading was 4.7Ka
When I then move the green to the neutral reading shows <1 A - what setting should...

seems like does both. Can see it has a separate setting for PFC/PSC and another for LOOP with LL LN or L-PE so was wondering.
Hi all
I'm doing the last leg of 2330 Level 3 in a week and I know there is a section about expected test results. I'm up on everything but the Prospective fault current; I know that you write down the highest reading out of Prospective Earth Fault/Prospective Short Circuit Current on the...
Hi I am confused with my readings for Pefc as my Ze is .09 which would give me 2.55Ka but when I test PFC on my meter I get 5.62Ka? Ze, Neutral and earth leads clipped on disconnected main earth, probe Line on Supply side?
Can I check I am doing this correctly;3 lead PEFC piggy back...
