Hi there,
Basically, I'm converting a panel van. I'm planning to install two sets of LEDs & two mains sockets via a leisure battery/inverter/battery charger combo. I've been swatting up (thanks to much help from people on this forum!) and am almost ready to finish off the job. I'd love for...
Hi all,
I recently started training to become a domestic installer. I have some practical experience and some knowledge of part P. Also done a little testing but only continuity and insulation resistance.
A friend of mine is fitting a new kitchen and will be having two ovens side by side. He...
Hello
I have a question , when looking at a cartridge fuse that say's , 32A (32SB3) , and at the side it says 550V AC 80kA ( BS88.2 ) , can this be used as a 32A on 240V supply ! .

Hi everyone I am going to be doing a job where I am fitting soffit lights. Problem is the customer has purchased lights which are IP20 rated. I would always fit IP65 rated lights outdoors but customer is adamant they want these lights in. Anyone have info on regulations regarding IP20 rated...
Been out of the loop for a bit, am I right in assuming that batteries for a domestic self consumption situation are 5%?
Also for off grid systems?
Cheers

hi
guys need to know the differnece between a module type contactor and normal contactor.
can we use moudle type contactor for power a distribution box with phase fauiler relay to avoid single phasing.
the DB box is not the main db box its made to power three machines a vacuum / compressor...
Hi Guys
I don't do much 3 phase but am used to seeing them populated by 10kA MCBs.
I'm dealing with a board which has a mixture of 6 and 10 kA 3 phase and 1 phase MCbs.
Z line measures 0.13 Ohms and Isc line is 1.6 kA. The supply fuses are 200 Amp.
So 6 kA MCbs are ok in this situation then...
Hi,
I am trying to determine the Ka rating of the above fuse. For 400V I believe it is 80 Ka but have found that it is 40 Ka for 250V DC. Can anyone tell me what it is for 230V AC or where I can find the answer?
I have already looked on the web and in the latest OSG but maybe not in the right...
When carrying out an EICR in a commercial office I have found 2.5mm radial socket circuits on 32 amp MCB with NO RCD protection
Now one way to rectify this deviation is to fit a 20amp RCBO.
My question is
Is it permissible just to fit a 20 amp MCB so omitting the RCD protection ?
I have...
My understanding is that a plastic consumer unit need only be coded a C3 if its mounted under a wooden staircase or in the sole means of escape in a domestic property.
A C2 would be given for the above situations if thermal damage, poor connections etc within the unit is found to be present...
Hi All
reading the guide it mentions performance of different panels & how they react, Maybe with all the guidelines & standards we have to adopt they should have had more stringent standards on the panels in the first place & then they would not need the requirement.
Evidence has emerged...
Hi there
My enquiry is to do with lamp flex and voltage parameters. I want to buy flex from China, vintage look, multi coloured casing etc, and it states..
1..Certified SAA, VDE, UL
2..operating voltage 100-300v
If I am going to sell table lamp products in the UK, where I live, will I need...
Hi guys,
got to do some work in a domestic property, and existing consumer unit has large hole where tails enter at bottom of cu, and therefore IP rating not met, Was going to use intumescent mastic, but it is a large hole, so feel expanding foam may be more useful. Just a bit unsure if it can...
Hi All
Is this allowed under amendment 3?
Yes its a conduit female end into the side of the CU with T&E coming out into the trunking.
No it is NOT my work!
Came across a PFC result on an EICR today of 10KA. My meter is calibrated and I carry out monthly checks with a check box to ensure the on-going accuracy of the equipment and all tested fine up to today.
Im not sure if I should quote my customer for C type R.C.B.Os with a higher breaking...
The underfloor heating controller says it will be able to pull a maximum of 16 Amps.
The supply is from a 20 RCBO. 2.5mm Twin and earth to a 13 Amp switched fused spur. The load side of the spur feeds the underfloor heating controller.
The owner is saying that if for what ever reason the...
I'm writing up an EICR. On one of the lighting circuits the potential load is theoretically about 1300W on a 5A BS3871 breaker. In reality, the arrangement has been in place for at least 8 years there are no signs of thermal damage, it is difficult to find lamps these days that would max out all...
Hi, quick question....long answer!!
An RCD has been installed in a single phase circuit as the measured Zs exceeds mcb. Circuit's wired in thermoplastic T&E 2.5/1.5, length of 58m.
Ze is 0.33 ohms on TNCS system. The OCPD is C20 60898.
How do I determine what the residual current rating of an...
Hi, I don't manage to find crimp connectors (spade, bullet, etc) with a stated IP rating. Do they exist, and if yes where do you find them?
I'm thinking of using IP56 spade connectors for a tunnel light on a narrow boat.
