Hi,
I visited a property suffering from random tripping of the 100ma RCD. I found several very loose terminals in the CU neutral and CPC screws. I tightened those and the problem disappeared for a couple of days. Originally it was happening every couple of hours.
This morning I get a call...

Email from customer:
Our Solar PV installation is protected by a 30mA RCD in it's own CU which regularly trips during the morning inverter startup at this time of year (when the roof is persistently very wet). We have a transformerless grid-connected Power One Aurora inverter, and I...
Installing a split RCD board in a new barn conversion build, IR tests come out clear, ring continuity tests fine, but the RCD will trip out when something is plugged into the circuit, happens on both sockets that are currently running off that side of the RCD but when I swapped one over to the...
Hi,
Got called to a jobs due to the RCD tripping on the downstairs ring, as soon as the MCB for the ring is turned on the RCD trips.
I didn't have long but I did some quick tests, R1+R2 was fine on all sockets so I split the ring about half way and did an IR test on each side of the ring and...

Hello,
I am a diyer doing my own board change shortly (paying a premium for the honour to BC) and have a problem either with my tester or something else. Basically when i test the RCDs and the two RCBOs i have on the board they are tripping on ramp at crazy figures, 6ma on one RCD and 9ma on...
My customer's RCD trips on the CU, but only when the induction hob CB is on, and never when the induction hob itself is switched on and operational.
With the hob CB off the RCD never trips.
Is this coincidence and it's another circuit from the CU that is faulty, or is there a fault in the hob...
This was an interesting problem and solution
I recently wired an community hall - the supply was a TPNE – one phase was being used for E7 heating. One phase was unused. And the third was to supply the lighting and power. I fitted a split board 12 way CU and ran two A2 radials for the...
Recently, whenever we plug in either our kettle (1850-2200 Watts) or our iron (2300-2750 Watts), it trips the RCD for that circuit. Nothing has been changed on the installation, and we've had both appliances for a few years and they never used to cause this problem. Up until recently, whenever...
