I was just about to book an EICR inspection for my property when the decorator said he didn't think the fuse board would pass. He said there was no RCD on the top board and partial on the bottom one. So rather than pay twice I was thinking of getting any potential work done first prior to the...
Greetings, I have a solar 5kw system installed with a hybrid inverter (no batteries yet). My electrician decided to add an extension board for the solar installation as my main CU couldn't fit all the required switch due to lack of space.
I have dual rcd consumer unit with no high integrity so...
I am a landlord and my managing estate agent just recently organised an electrician to carry out EICR. Came back as unsatisfactory, no RCD protection on: lights, smoke alarm, door bell and immersion heater. There is RCD protection on sockets and cooker. Electrician suggests changing the...
Have an existing old client with what's best described as a sprawling small-holding of a property.
There's an armoured external supply which branches into a submain for various sheds/workshops/stables (some of which are 150-200m) etc all of which have standard RCD final circuit protection and...
So as the title says can I use a mcb as the main switch. Basically to keep it short I’ve took a 25mm sub main to power an outbuilding. Mains coming in will be Henley blocked and new tails will go into enclosure with b63a mcb which then feeds 25mm swa to outhouse which contains its own c/u which...
Many years ago I fitted some RCD socket outlets to my parents home for the two likely to be used outside, the front hall and the kitchen one next to the window. Being the paranoid sort of person I am I always test-trip them when I have cause to use one, and in the case of the front hall that is...
We have to put two new tower sockets in to a office at work.
At the moment we have two towers but four sets of four desks.
The two sets of four without towers are fed via extension leads hence the need for two new towers.
I have been told by our tech guy we aren't fitting RCBO on the two new...
During an eicr i have discovered a 30 ma (RCD) Residual Current Device feeding a dual RCD consumer unit. The source rcd trips before either in the Consumer Unit .
i would remove the source rcd or replace with a type s but i cant be certain about buried cables in walls, at least some of it is in...
8.5K shower unit is wired to plastic box consumer unit to 30 amp cartridge fuse with no RCD
It’s the original shower installed when the house was built around 1995
The shower is still fully working after all these years, never blowing the cartridge fuse before
Am I right to presume RCD wasn’t...
Hi guys, I am rewiring a commercial launderette with 3 phase machinery.
Does the machinery need to be RCD protected being in commando sockets.
The sockets are not accessible to the public and each circuit is being used for a specific machine.
With the price of three phase rcbos the...
Hello all
I have recently installed a sub main in 4mm 3-core SWA, approx length 45 metres, to feed a small garden office.
Final circuits in the cabin are protected by 30mA RCBOs and the supply is fed from a 32A MCB on the non-RCD side of the DB in the house. As the installation is TT I put in...
Can anyone help me with this
I have a old plastic consumer unit with one rcd with lighting and cooker not on rcd
The original lighting circuit has been altered over the years and 16 non fire rated spotlights put in the kitchen with all earths cut out
2 bathrooms 5 spotlights in each not iP...
TT system, existing three phase fuse board recently installed by another spark which only has single phase circuits terminated into individual RCBOs
Required to install three phase circuits for new equipment, is there a better way of doing this than fitting a 4pole RCD ahead of the main switch...
Hi, I've recently done a PAT course after the large company I work at discovered we have a Deltapat 3309 kit tucked away.
I'm actually an automotive electrician maintaining the electric forklifts and pallet shuttle 'robots' at the factory but they decided to expand my skills which I appreciate...
Afternoon all..
Just lazily working through a quote on this wet and cold Sunday.
I'm trying to get Type A RCD protection for my new work. At present it has Type AC RCD.
My question is, does this Type A Legrand RCD (see link) fit in this CU as a direct replacement for the existing RCD (see...
Why isn't there any?
If you're using only the plus-negative on the battery and the only grounding point is battery negative to chassis, then surely a 12v rcd would be possible.
Or am I missing something totally here.
I've scoured the internet and found absolutely nothing!
Does any one have a link or know where I can find the diagram I’ve seen that lays out what rcd devices you can and cannot have up/downstream of each other?
e.g. you can’t install a type A downstream of a type AC etc
it was a good little diagram but I can’t seem to find it again, I think it was...
Afternoon all. Apologies if this is a stupid question. I'm currently half part way through completing 2391 (second exam tonight) - so may be getting myself in a tiz overthinking things.
Either way, thought I'd put it out to the group.
Task is: Straight swap of existing x5 ovens with new -...
