Hi, I've recently done a PAT course after the large company I work at discovered we have a Deltapat 3309 kit tucked away.
I'm actually an automotive electrician maintaining the electric forklifts and pallet shuttle 'robots' at the factory but they decided to expand my skills which I appreciate...
Afternoon all..
Just lazily working through a quote on this wet and cold Sunday.
I'm trying to get Type A RCD protection for my new work. At present it has Type AC RCD.
My question is, does this Type A Legrand RCD (see link) fit in this CU as a direct replacement for the existing RCD (see...
Why isn't there any?
If you're using only the plus-negative on the battery and the only grounding point is battery negative to chassis, then surely a 12v rcd would be possible.
Or am I missing something totally here.
I've scoured the internet and found absolutely nothing!
Does any one have a link or know where I can find the diagram I’ve seen that lays out what rcd devices you can and cannot have up/downstream of each other?
e.g. you can’t install a type A downstream of a type AC etc
it was a good little diagram but I can’t seem to find it again, I think it was...
Afternoon all. Apologies if this is a stupid question. I'm currently half part way through completing 2391 (second exam tonight) - so may be getting myself in a tiz overthinking things.
Either way, thought I'd put it out to the group.
Task is: Straight swap of existing x5 ovens with new -...
Hello,
DIY requesting help with diagnosing problem
My mother's storage heater has developed a fault after turning it back on for winter.
It trips the Consumer unit rcd when power switched on.
Initially I thought most likely an issue with an element. I removed all 3 elements and tested...
Installed and Ecostrad iQ wifi radiator with RCD. The radiator area started making a 'drilling' noise and noise traced to RCD tripping like a drill. Help?
Hiya, I have a 5yrs old Zanussi single built in fan oven. It has recently started tripping the RCD at the fuse box. Thinking and researching i decided to replace the main element which i have done. The oven works for about 15 mins the fan comes on after a couple of minutes and seems to be...
Hi this may be a simple answer to my question but I can't find the answer in the regs
If im fitting a garage board from a consumer unit with RCD protection do I need to have RCD protection in the garage board?
I'm guessing I don't need an RCD at the garage board but I can't find a definite...
Hi all. What are your thoughts on coding type AC RCDs when doing EICR's?
I understand the issue on DC currents preventing RCd's from functioning correctly.
The Am2 version of code breakers suggests a C2 coding for: "....type AC RCD and has pulsating DC currents from connected equipment such as...
Hi All
I’m after some advice, I am doing a restaurant fit out involving a number tables that have hot pots built into the table, for customers to heat/cook their food in the hot broths or stews what have you. These are 3kw and just fed from a fuse spur.
The cable run is LSF T&E on tray laid...
Is it ok to have PV system into shared (household) RCD?
So I've had a system installed, but not yet complete/signed off. The issue is that the PV (and a car charger) are wired into a shared RCD (with water heater, boiler and downstairs sockets). When all breakers are on, the system trips. It...
Hello engineers. I did EICR in two bed rented flat in a block of flats. There is old plastic fuseboard just above the entry door. There are only bs1361 fuses inside and no RCD. All luminaries are plastic. The board and wiring are in good condition. Any advise on how should i code that?
Hi,
If i buy an EVIOS EV chargepoint, do i also need to buy a 6mA DC detector for the mains feed?
Or does the EVIOS contain that?
And does the EVIOS contain a type B RCD which can detect imbalance from 3mA to >30mA?...or do i need to buy one and get it installed first?
EVIOS chargepoint...
Hi guys was having a conversation as a apprentice I’m still not sure and was wondering why earth fault loop impedance is important if you’ve proved your earth because the rcd trips proving your rcd performs ? Can anyone tell me thanks so what my question is in short what’s the point of it if...
Hi. I’ve recently had installed a manifold (including zone valve and pump) for the newly installed Wet UFH in my extension.
The system is split into three zones 1) Hot Water 2) Extension UFH 3) The rest of the house which is the original central heating system.
All work fine when switched on...
OSG Pg.40 says:
'[Split CU with 2x RCCBs] is not suitable for an installation forming part of a TT system as there is insufficient fault protection of the single-insulated conductors that connect the load side of the double-pole main switch to the supply-side of the RCCB's.'
Why is there...
Hi all,
I'm refitting my bathroom in my first floor flat (top floor) built around 1989. It has 2 CUs, one for night storage and one for 24h electrics, they are of the 1980's era Crabtree, the label on the side says BS5486:PART 13 CM16.
The hot and cold are run in plastic from the Immersion...
