Hi peeps. Doing an end to end test on a ring final circuit.
R1- 0.43
RN- 0.44
R2- 0.33
Its old stranded 2.5, seems to have about 7 stands on the live n neutral conductors, and about 4 strands on the cpc conductor.
Why is the r2 lower than the r1 & rn!!
HELP
Anyone fitted these new sockets with integral usb charger slots? I've found you have to disconnect a supply wire when doing IR test.. might seem obvious with hindsight but caught me out the first time :dunce2:
Q2 please
240v 1500w motor.
a) What reading would you expect on a healthy motor?
b) What reading what you expect on a faulty motor?
and
c) Where would you connect the meter to get the readings?
I know they are daft question to you but the company expect us to find out for ourselves believe it...
I was just wondering if you could help me interpret this motor plate? I'm just learning at the moment and as I'm coming across more and more of these I'd like to make sure I'm reading them correctly. Please correct me if I'm wrong - I probably am..
Across the top it tells you it's made by...
Whilst correctly conducting an insulation resistance test of a radial circuit supply a number of sockets-outlets, an unsatisfactory reading was obtained.
State 3 steps necessary to permit the remaining test to be carried out?
I did an EICR for a client over a year ago and as part i took the Ze reading at the incoming supply. All normal for a TNC-S it was about 0.14 ohms. I installed a socket in his workshop recently and as his tenant was in i could not remove the main earth so i took a Zs at the same position. The Zs...
I was called to an office in a field today (tt system)
The led lights and sockets (separate circuits ) still have power when switched off at the switches ( lights on dim and socket neon half bright)
I did a ze test at the board and had to replace the earth rod.
The reading at the board is...
Found this recently while rewiring an empty house.
Some interesting wording , especially the paragraph which refers to Meter Readers as "Company Servants"
Hello all,
I could use some help here:
I was recently asked to do an EICR at a small warehouse/office unit.
The installation was, to put it mildly, less than satisfactory; with multiple C1 and C2 conditions. However, of greatest concern to me were the insulation resistance readings I was...
I bought a brand new fluke 1653b just before Christmas, however I haven't really used it much as its mainly for personal use as I am looking to set up alone in the near future and I use a separate tester at work. When I bought the tester it came with a valid calibration certificate as this was...
Im on an electrical installation course in college and currently on a 3 month trial as an apprentice so thats why im asking zs testing from what i understand in college they teach it you as zs=ze + r1/r2 which i understand but when i go and actually look at zs test myself say on youtube they...
A relative has asked me to install an electric shower. He suggested i use an old electrical point that used to be used for an immersion heater, but has now been plated off with a blank plate and the live and neutral wire inside have been taped off with red insulation tape.
I used my fluke clamp...
Hi Everyone,
Please read ALL of the post below before contributing as the fault is unusual (for me, newly qualified).
My client called me out because turning on the lights in her (2009) converted stable block tripped the RCD (this is the main switch in the stable DB). Trying to re-set the rcd...
Hi all
installed some downlights for a customer the other day, nice easy job (as they all start out to be)
did the usual tests, Earth loop was a high reading, checked supply and it was TT even though a lead sheathed underground supply cable.
Ze was high 290ohms, bonding to gas and water all...
hi, fitted new consumer in a domestic house.
testing.
ze 0.16
zs at origin 0.04
pfc 6.2ka
the pfc is my problem, ohms law would make the pfc work out around 5.7Ka (using 0.04 as your resistance) (with all paths in place)
using megger 1553 two lead test, high current, pefc and pscc are the...
Had a strange experience today.
customets t&p valve keep blowing on their hot water heater (sealed pressurised electric immersion heater fed from a water pump, pped in from a 5000 litre holding tank )
thought it might be the faulty valve first, after testing that and it being fine I went onto...
Hi I'm Darren and I'm hoping to become a domestic electrician possibly self employed In the future I have been told by someone that In order to be a domestic installer I need to be registered with a third party certification scheme such as the NICEIC I was just wondering if this is true...
Hello everyone
I'm doing my 2395 practical assessment this week and I'm looking through my condition report inspection schedule.
in the case I come up against a low ( < than 1 mohm ) value on mega ohms while completing a IR test which box in the inspection schedule should I code this fault...
Hi all, having a bit of an issue with the above meter. I have owned it for about a year now and have recently noticed I am getting a reading a reading of around 9 ohms between the leads. As far as I'm aware there is no way of nulling the leads but I might be missing something? I don't use it for...
Hi I have a flat down neutral to earth fault on a kitchen ring rcd isnt tripping and I have 30+megohms on the other ir tests! There is.extractor fan in the kitchen that has no fcu
