I'm in need or around 20-30 power sockets for small electrical devices, less than 1amp each.
At the moment I have a bunch of extension leads all running to the same 2 or 3 plug sockets, is this safe or should this be avoided?
I have seen this cabinet type set up, which has 10 sockets inside...
Hi all,
I've got a question and I'm not sure if anyone can help?
I have recently built a gazebo and as part of the built I required sockets and lighting.
As with these sorts of things the gazebo was no where near the main board. So firstly I already had an outside socket IP66 (not a spur)...
Hi our sheds and outbuildings seem to have lost all electrical power but the socket next to the shed has lights on nothing works in the other sheds sockets either no kettle garden pond pump etc plus light switches too.The junction box in the shed halfway down the garden is fine if I turn off the...
We are planning to have external electrical sockets fitted in our courtyard patio area. We would like to have flush sockets installed so that they are not protruding from the wall, where people might bang their legs on them. Our electrician says that he has never come across them before and...
Had a look at a job today to replace 5 x 1000W halogen floods with LED equivalent in a big agricultural shed. 4 inside, 1 outside, all high level.
The 4 inside are controlled by a 4 gang grid switch, across 2 circuits on 16A breakers.
The lights themselves have a 13A plugtop and are plugged...
Hi new to the forum, looking for some advice regarding buying electrical sockets, 2 gang.
What would be classed as the best on the market, also are screw less sockets any good.
Thank You.
Hi everyone, I'm currently upgrading my workshop and before I get quotes for the electrics I'd like to understand it better myself. If I want 6 sockets from a ring mains circuit can I spur off an existing socket to a 20a DP switch and run the 6 sockets from that? It's unlikely the load will...
Hello all, I’m new to this forum! I work in commercial electrics (NVQ level 3, HND etc) but not domestic. I am confident to carry out basic domestic work but not familiar with the regs such as Part P etc.
New build house, 17th edition amendment 3 consumer unit.
I have a detached garage fed from...
I'm having a very strange issue with some sockets. They're in my garage and are running from a 13amp switched fused spur off a 30amp radial circuit.
There are 4 double sockets and appeared to be working fine. Then suddenly they stopped, no breaker went on the consumer unit so I assumed the fuse...
Hi
Would really appreciate some advice on this as I have pretty limited electrical knowledge
I live in a fairly new build home with 3 floors and the fuse box can either turn off all the plug sockets on the ground floor or turn off all the plug sockets on the 2nd and 3rd floor in every room...
Hi all, hope everyone has had a nice Christmas. At some point this morning the kitchen sockets tripped and its had me up the wall, literally.
It has happened in the past but I just flip the breaker back up and it's been fine. Not today. Flip it up, few seconds later it trips the downstairs...
Hi Everyone
I have an issue that has stumped me.
My TV turns it self on and off from standby to on and back to standby continuously but only in two separate sockets in the lounge.
It seems to always have power but flicking between the two modes
Plugged the tv in to every other socket on that...
I’m planning on buying a powerline adaptor for one of the upstairs bedrooms. This is to allow for a stronger internet access from this room as the WiFi signal is almost completely blocked by an external wall due to it being an extension. My Wifi router is downstairs in my living room and I’ve...
Hi, I have been tasked with installing 3 phase ring main in a tool room. X6 16A sockets. Each pice if kit will pull no more than 5A. Planning on using 4mm SWA cable protected by a 63A breaker. Tool room dimensions are 7M X 5M. Any problems with this?
Hi All.
I am doing up a new home and wanted to change all the plastic sockets and switches to chrome or steel as I feel it adds a more modern and elegant look to the home however I have been told that these aren’t considered safe and there is a chance of electric shock if I were to have...
Was wondering. I haven't been to college for about 3 or 4 years now and I can't seem to remember what they said about doubling over conductors in a ring circuit.
So in a ring circuit using 2.5mm twin and earth cable, is it recommended that you double over the conductors before terminating them...
Hi everyone.
A DIYer here, not looking to fix this issue (as the house in question is hundreds of miles away...) but to try and help owner to narrow down possible causes. He has had a sparky in, but problem persists.
He has a kitchen in a flat-roofed extension. There is a 'reception' room in...
Hi all As stated above see attached photo. Have never seen one of these any certainly doesn't look to have RCD protection so question is how do I comply with regs as am hearing now RCD spurs and sockets are not compliant with regs anymore ( or if they ever were) this would get me around the...
