Hi all, my first post on this forum. Im a member on the VXR forums and the detailing world forums, so if anyone is on either of those, give me a wave :)
Anyway - I have recently moved into a house build in 1962. The electrics are pretty up to date, and a new CU was fitted a few years back to...
Hi there,
I was wondering if you might be able to help with a query. I've recently removed some storage heaters from my flat and am replacing them with electric panel heaters instead. The old storage were connected directly to individual spurs. Am I right in thinking that these spurs are on...
I have come across a situation and need a bit of help.
With a switched spur the load is connected in load and supply in supply
I have done that for a towel rail but also tgere is a second spur being feed from this spur do I connect the cable for this in the supply or load if it's a switched...
Good morning all,
is it within regulations to add a spur to a radial wired in 4mm in a kitchen if the spur is also 4mm? The circuit is on a 32a rcbo.
Thank you
I currently have an integral garage fed by a radial circuit protected by a 32A MCB and wired with 4mm T&E cable. This feeds just two power points in the garage (and nothing else).
i wish to redesign this circuit to provide several more power points and would like to check whether my proposed...
hi everybody or anybody,
this is my first post thread so I'll keep it simple as I can. I need advice on electrical spurs. I have spurred off a double socket but I need another socket (preferably a single socket) to plug in a washing machine. would this be too much spurs off a double socket...
Ok so you have the classic to cables in back of socket. Spurs should be identifiable through higher resistance but if very short spurs and it's an older install and you want to break into the ring to add another socket. You could be creating a spur off spur off spur?
How do u go about being...
Hi all.
Can anyone give me advise on fused spurs? I would like to know if it is ok to wire a FCU adjacent to a ring socket. Then run 2.5 t&e to say 5 double sockts and then add another FCU with a 3 amp fuse to run a 6ft fluresent fitting? Is this classed as a spur off a spur as i am aware that...
A friend asked me to have a quick look at the electrics as she wasn't sure if the plasterer was doing it quite right!
On investigation I found the socket (on a ring) was already supplying one spur which fed 2 sockets (JB underfloorboards). The plasterer had already added another spur and then...
Hi guys, I'm trying to extend
what lighting/sockets I have in my garage.
Currently I have a 2.5 t&e
coming through the brick to what feeds 1 double socket and 3 tubelights. I'm not
sure wether this is spurred off a ring main or is part of a radial circuit from
the house. Anyway I want to...
Hello!
I've had a look in BS7671 in the appendicies for regulations on fused spurs etc and I have a question.
Another electrician has gone to the house I have been asked to go to and he said that you can spur of a fused spur but I'm sure that you can only spur off a socket for 1 13a fused...
Got a few spurs in a kitchen for appliances but customer doesn't like the look of a fused spur. Is there any other way like 20a dp switched or 45a 1g cooker switch or are these more hassle?
Hi guys,
Just a quick query here. I have just gone into a property and done a EICR. Its a rewireable fuseboard with no rcd protection on any circuits. The main house ring circuit has an occurence with a spur off a spur. Easy to rectify i know but as i am going to to re-feeding the sockets, is...
Just wondering if anyone can shed any light on this Topic, as i have had conflicting opinions from a few sparks..
Is there any Regulations as to where fused spurs for appliances should be,, (ie, so far from each appliance..)?. I know they should be accessible and not obstructed.. I have...
Hi
just after a quick bit of guidance,
I have completed an EICR, and found a spur of a spur on a ring final circuit, there were no signs of thermal damage and the sockets are in 2 bedrooms and feed table lamps and phone chargers. I know this is a no no in terms of the regs, but what would...
Hi,
First posting!
Have tight customer who does not want a board upgrade- no rcds. wants a new bathroom so RCD fused spur for lights/fan. Talking about towel rail so RCD fused spur off ring. Now wants underfloor heating. So 3RCD spurs ,isolators, timers and switches. It will look crap on the...
Hello all..
I have recently added a spur for a customer and it got me thinking again about how many spurs could I actually take from the same socket!
The only socket I could use to take the spur from was on the ring and was already feeding a spur. Now I could have extended the ring but after a...
