Hi guys, as title suggest re spec for some lights. At this point in time I've not got a scooby doo what it's all about. any pointers, links. I will try google later.
Evening...
I always use my OSG to find R1+R2 when needed for designing a circuit (staying withing the Zs limits), but I wondered if the same table is somewhere in BS7671? Its table I1 in the OSG. I've hunted high and low so I expect it's just something that the OSG offers and isn't in BS7671...
Eh up :)
I'm trying to challenge myself with scenarios where I'm not sure if my interpretation of the calculation rules + regs is correct or not.
RFCs are doing my head in.
I think I understand most of the theory:
- 433.1.204 lists a specific case where a RFC protected by a 30/32A protective...
So, when I did my 2391 I&t course I was told to use to values in table 41.3 of the regs for max ZS value for rcbo which provide earth fault, and over load protection. Recently a colleague of mine said you should use the value in table 41.5 which states a max permissible ZS of 1667 ohms. I don't...
Hi all still feeling new to this game even after 5 years or so
Going through a test and having trouble with finding the max zs readings FOR bs3871 breakers
I know I can just multiply the old ones by 0.95, but was hoping someone had kindly already done a table with amended readings.
I also...
Getting a bit of a headache here, hoping someone can break this down for me please.
Are there any instances where table 41.3 of BS7671 do not apply, and table 41.5 will instead apply?
Example
32A type C RCBO having a max Zs of 0.58 (after RoT applied).
Measures value of Zs coming in at...
Hi,
Am running a radial power circuit in 4mm fp200 with a 20A rcbo but am a bit worried about the voltage drop. I have a 70M run clipped direct and by my calculations I will need to go to 6mm. I am using table 4d2 but don't know if there is a table for fp200.
Hi all sorry for this silly question but i cant seem to find the max Zs table for a 10A BS88-2 Fusein the osg. I can find it in the BGB table 41.4
10A = 7.19 ohms and i know to multiply it by 0.8 (7.19 x 0.8 = 5.75) for rule of thumb but i would like to find the right table in the osg
Hi all,
Would a 10.5kW Shower require 10mm or 16mm twin and earth?
I've been doing cable calculations at college and im not 100%.
Cable Length = 20m
Protective Device = 50A
Wiring method = Above plasterboard ceiling not exceeding 100mm insulation
I belive 10mm is sufficient but my calcs...
Doing some testing today and came across something I was hoping to get cleared up.
The maz zs of a c type 16amp 61009 is 1.44 ohms on table 41.3 however on table 41.5 it states that a 30ma 61009 under 32amp can have max zs of 1667ohms.
Would you write on test sheet maz zs 1667 ohms and...

I was hoping someone would give me an idea of what the 0.1 sec - 5 sec referrs to in the table to the right of Fig 3A4 (BS7671).
Any Fault current that exceeds the straight line I thought meant instantaneous disconnection? (i.e 0.1 sec (probably faster)), but the table infers that it could be...
I have been asked by a customer to solve a problem, he has a 3 phase 20A D curve breaker supplying 3 single phase breakers 2 x 6A and 1 x 2A. The 6A breakers are supplying 2 pumps with a load of about 4A each. When 1 of the pumps are turned on, the 20A trips. Any ideas why? The earth loop...
Which table do you use in BS7671 for volt drop for LSF Twin and Earth? There does not appear to be a table for LSF cable. 4D5 refers to the grey PVC cable and is not the right one to use for the white LSF. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi all,
I need to put in a 3 phase supply for a piece of equipment in a commercial unit. They've sent the spec sheet for the item over and all it says is
Current type (Ph/V/Hz): 3/420/50
Power rating (kW): 7.8
I just want to clarify if it's 7.8kW per phase or 7.8kW total over all...
Hi guys, hope all had a good christmas.
After seeing a piece of driftwood made into a very nice table lamp as a christmas gift it has given me the idea to make a few myself as a hobby and maybe sell them locally.
I live very close to the sea and am sure to be able to source plenty of driftwood...
