So was sent to move some sockets today on a big office display anyway I spotted all the display light strips on extension leads made up of a 13amp plug top some had lower fuses others didn't but the plug top where on 1.5 t&e so I've now been asked to do a report on this and other bits so before...
Hi,
Hope you are all having a good Easter Bank holiday.
Saw this the other day and just wanted people's opinions/thoughts please. (I was there installing led floodlights to the front and rear gardens only).
6mm T&E coming from the C/U into and along the attached garage wall approx 8m run...
Evening all..
I am currently doing my first full rewire. The customer is having the wall knocked down with the meter/cutout and CU on it. the plan was to move the CU under the stairs and get DNO to move the supply to the same place. They have said they cannot move the cutout to where the CU...
I have been abroad for a few years and I am back getting into the swing of things.I have heard there is a cable on the market that replaces T&E, that can be run outside safe zones without mechanical protection anyone shed any light on this.
Hi Guys
A client has just asked me how old their installation is , it's white twin and earth and looks in good nick.
I was just curious when did white t&e start to get used ? Not the low smoke stuff the stuff the grey has replaced .Sorry it's a silly question but I couldn't answer them and I'm...
I'm half way through an installation job that I didn't design, and have come up against an oversight that I need a solution for.
The issue at hand is a new kitchen with a cooker and an oven. The original design showed a 10 mm feed for the cooker, with the oven on the ring (hmm). After looking...
Is there anything wrong with having t&e mixed with singles on a ring circuit? For example a kitchen ring with conduit linking everything. The 2 legs coming from the garage would be t&e as they will be clipped to joists. But as everything in the kitchen will be conduit it would be easier to pull...
Hi all
in preparation for starting my electricians work, i'm making myself a cable carrier out of some scrap steel i have lying about.
just something to hold the reels and let it spool whilst i'm pulling it through.
my question is, how big is a 10mm T&E reel (50m & 100m) ?
not had the chance to...
Ok so i might get ripped to shreds for this but here go's. Been to look at a job this morning, customer wants to move a couple of switches from a wall theyre having knocked down and have an additional socket installed. Carried out a couple of checks, gas and water bond ok, tns supply which...
A circuit wired in 6.0/2.5 with a 32amp MCB feeding a double socket for a gas hob and gas oven.
Now I know that the protective device is for the cable, but I am concerned that the socket can only take 13+7. Should I down rate the protective device for the socket and not the cable in this...
Greetings.
I tested an rfc and recorded the following results:
r1 = 0.62
rN = 0.89
r2 = 1.45
The difference in r1 and rN indicate loose connections so I checked all the sockets (bar one) on the ring which revealed two loose connections.
The rfc now tests as follows:
r1 = 0.58
rN = 0.59
r2 = 1.45...
Hello all,
I am running a distribution circuit to a sectioned off part of someone's house, I'm going to be running the cable under the wooden floor and dropping down in to the room from above. I can use either 10mm SWA or 16mm T&E to achieve this but was just wondering what people think would...
Does anyone have experience sizing cable tray/ basket and trunking which is used for twin and earth cabling?
The on site guide only provides guidance and factors where single core PVC cables are used.
I am looking for help where twin and earth is used.
Can some help me with this.
Ive got a debate at work about whether a house wired in this needs rewiring, if the insulation and cable condition is fine.
Can someone tell me in laymans terms why this is acceptable.
Hi all
I have rewire to do on a small terrace house. In the kitchen there is a wall with floor units and wall cupboards, with the bath directly above. my though are rather than try get all the boars up as I need under the bath and drill joist. I was thinking of do first drop to socket, then...
Customer has a 25mm sub main fed into DP isolator (as pictured) then 16mm T&E out of the top to feed 2nd consumer unit about 20m away. 2nd consumer unit has 8 circuits. (1 32A Ring, 2 socket radials, 1 lights, Shower (pump fed no heater), Immersion heater, 2 Ovens). Diversity & cable rating...
Hi,
I have a commercial property with several consumer units that are the old split type ie half rcd protected and half not, the boards need replacing but on some of the boards they have a breaker on the unprotected side feeding another consumer unit, ie a sub main in T&E , so when I replace...
Which table do you use in BS7671 for volt drop for LSF Twin and Earth? There does not appear to be a table for LSF cable. 4D5 refers to the grey PVC cable and is not the right one to use for the white LSF. Any help would be appreciated.
Guys, I've need to run a cable from a CCU, through a wall (which has a garage on the other side), then run (10mm, 3 core) armour to an installation. What I would like to do is run 10mm T&E from the CCU through the wall ('cos it's easier to manipulate in a confined space obviously), straight into...
Testing 2.5+1.5 socket ring, got r1 0.75ohm, rn 0.76ohm, r2 1.38ohm. Expected r2 is 1.25ohm (=0.75*2.5/1.5)...bit of a deviation. All CPC connections inspected appeared fine. Had a micrometer to hand (not calibrated admittedly) so measured conductors, live = 1.77mm dia, CPC=1.30mm which gives...
