Recently visited a new build to do a very minor job and spotted a few dodgy looking items so Client asked me to do an EICR.
Following items I found were;
Upstairs and downstairs smoke detectors mains fed but not interlinked, on separate circuits.
downlights open backed and clearly not fire...
As per title. Does anyone know what this symbol means? It’s on a IP rated outdoor light and there’s nothing in the instructions to say what it means.
Customer asked to me to take a look at a light she intends to by 10 of for her garden. This symbol was on it and I’ve never seen it before.
So, my new house is being constructed and I visited it and saw these wires/cables ( orange color, pics attached) . What are these ? What is the purpose ?
Hi. I've had an electrician come in to set up sockets and lights in my loft conversion.
2 switches for the main light (one at the bottom of the stairs and one at the top) 2 bed lights with their own built in switches and some plug sockets.
The plug sockets are finished and working fine.
I'm...
Please help me how to wire this, it’d be awesome if someone draws a simple diagram like the pic I posted but for my parts, I saw a diy video on YouTube for this mini subwoofer but it’s not clear where all the wires go. It’s only clear for the one speaker set up here in the diagram pic but...
I found a picture online of a standard UK connection in a block of flats.
Where I have circled blue, would those earth clamps around the orange cable somehow cut into the neutral wire to connect within the orange sleeving?
Or are they just clamped to the sleeve for some arbitrary reason?
Hi, I have a new light for the bathroom after the other stopped working but these are the wires I'm confronted with. I have tried to wire with the black as live no joy and then the brown as live no joy I'm so confused. when wired up the light fixing is showing live on the tester yet no light...
Over the holiday period my partner returned home to her apartment with no power. None of the internal breakers in the consumer unit had tripped and so she was unsure what to do. She called an electrician who took the cover off the consumer unit and then showed her these singed breakers across...
Hi.
I have seen these transformer like things on the higher voltage powerlines when I go to regional areas in NSW and I was wondering what they are? I can't remember seeing them where I come from (Central Coast NSW)
They couldn't be transformers because they are not connected to any other...
Hi
I've just moved into a flat and it has old brass downlights in every room, I also think a lot of them are halogen and not led so keen to replace them all.
Sorry if the pics aren't enough but based on the wiring I have, could I just buy new white led spring holders (not sure name!) and...
Hi all :)
I teach Electricity in France.
With my english teacher, we want to create an activity for our student.
The goal for students is to describe an electrical object to other.
The other student has to find the object.
I have some difficulty to find the best name for each object.
Can you...
Hi Guys
Got an Emmeti UFH manifold box we wired up a while ago, fuse inside has gone 'pop' for some reason.
Not brought this type of fuse before - clear casing, got 4a marking on PCB above.
What do I search for is it a special type ?
Thanks Sy
Hi Guys
Just seeing anyone hooked one of these pre plumbed units up before :
Mitsubishi Ecodan
Assuming fairly straight forward compared some 'head scratchers' I've done recently.
Possibly a power supply to inside unit + supply to outside unit + comms cable between + SL from heating 🤔
Plumber...
We bought a house and this conduit is outside my back door of my garage. It has 3 6g wires that have been cut and left in the conduit going into the ground. Any idea where the wires originate and go?
I am about to quote to install this HRU. Having never fitted one before I had a few questions?
1. How long roughly does it take to install? The 162mm diameter hole will already have been drilled. There is a socket very close by and it will be in trunking, so easy. It's more the length of time...
In the market for a flexi-coil high rated current meter, wondering if anyone has used one of these before? Or has an alternative recommendation.
