12v transformer

Hi, my friends down lighters stopped working so we replaced the transformer. Now after a while the lights come on and go off, presumably due to heat,? We tried another new tranny but this still happens. Why?

how far is the transformer from the downlight - is the lights or transformer covered by insulation?

Is there more than one downlighter on the transformer?

If so add up the wattages of all the connected downlighters and see if they exceed that of the transformer. It could be an overload (probably thermal) tripping and automatically resetting.

has he changed bulb recently and put larger wattage in as most transformers are low rating

seen that , where two lights off 1 60W max transformer, and they installed 50W bulbs
