Hi, just left a job which goin back to tomoz but as was leavin the customer asked I could look at her tiolet light so did quick and it was ya simple one way sw, at the light there was a twin and at sw a twin but when the light sw is off there is no power on either core at sw but wen u sw it on yes the light comes on and one of the cores at sw is then live, I belled from sw to light and the black from the sw goes up to N at light but the live don't, so obv they sent N to sw which is serving no purpose but the live don't bell through so obv assuming there is a jb somewhere but don't know if I bein thick but for some reason can't think why u only gettin power to sw wen u turn it on and not perm feed at it with sw wire out, sorry if u lost the story abit after how much iv typed dwn any help would be great, I pretty sure it simple but I must be brain dead

correct. with the switch off, there is no current flow so the neutral side of the lamp is at the same potential as the live side. hence so is one side of the switch. when the switch is made, the there is a 230v volt drop across the load, thus dropping the switch wire to 0v.

i ain't got a handbag either. hilti nail guns at 10 paces is more fun

Agree with a lot about the grammer, because better responses are had when we can read clearly what it is you need help on,street slang chat on here just frustrates people, cant imagine what in invoice would look like.

I was asked to look because it flickered before fully going on when she switched it, it's a normal pendant light, and at switch when light is off I was getting 0volts at live and 170volts at N, it's baffling, I know it's connected up at a jb somewhere, iv not been back yet due to other job, just weird out when light is on there is no voltage at the switch but when switched off there just voltage at the N

God you lot r proper snobs, you can't just be helpful

Behave fella! People have been trying to help you out here mate. You've gotta take the rough with the smooth. Alright so some of the lads could have mentioned your poor grammer, punctuation and spelling with a bit more diplomacy, but don't bite the hand that feeds you for God's sake.
