Jetion with SMA selling well for us the 12 year product warranty does it for me !!

Do not compromise on safety, I just quoted against another installer whom the customer said would work off a scaf tower. It's for 10 panels standard house height, I said we can not risk our safety and quality of installation. The tower doesn't give any working area. Granted we have used on bungalows, never on a house.

yep, likewise. Use a tower on a house but can't believe someone would even consider using it on a house. Easidec no better IMHO

we offer a cheaper range using Upsolar, which tbh have always had excellent build quality, better than many supposedly premium brands, and seem to be performing well generally.

To be fair, UpSolar and a PowerOne inverter is a bloody good set up. I doubt many other setups could be proven to do much better. I agree, UpSolar building quality are great.

Hi.....we are too far away and your budget it too low but here is a suggestion.

You say you have £6000. Well you can get an Interest Free Loan of up to £2000 from The Energy Savings Trust. That plus your own funds will be sufficient to get a proper system installed by a decent company. Repayment is over 8 years at £21 per month which will be covered from your FIT payments. You can download an application from the EST site.

haven't used one (too expensive for me) but looking at them I wouldn't use it anywhere other than where I would use a tower. I wouldn't use it on a 2 story building I don't think, but as I say, not speaking from a position of experience, just from what I have seen on the website.

Depends on your overheads I guess and what you class as a tidy profit, personally prices start from £7400 which includes black frames, scaffolding, EPC, 6mm AC cable run, warranty and all the usuals. I wouldn't say the profit is huge, but it's worth doing by the time you add the survey, quote and paperwork on to the install time (2 men 2 days at a steady pace, proper job and including a proper commission as per reg's)

I'd do it for £5999 if you bring your roof to me.

you must have very low overheads, or be doing a lot of installations a month to cover them to make that price work.

I honestly don't know how you make it work. I do all installs - from survey to handover - and I can't get it anywhere near that low.

Well no over heads as such, just van etc, no office to fund. The only over heads are the same ones as for my normal electrical contracting side which don't equate to much. I suppose in some ways being a small business has benefits. Only 2 of us +sub-contract labour for roofing if required.

I refuse to go lower than that as then it becomes a pointless task but i still often get undercut. God knows how big companies can charge less than me when i have no commissions etc to pay!

Ours is a family business. Our overheads are as low as they can possibly be and I can't get anywhere near that.
