The question is a simple one and the answer is equally simple, you'd have a 6mm twin and earth connected to a 2.5mm twin and earth via jb.

I'm guessing that wasn't the answer you were after. Can you give more explanation of what's on your mind?

Before you get an accurate answer there's some info that the guys will need to know. I'll start the ball rolling with a fewquestions;
  1. Is the 2.5 mm FT&e part of a ring circuit?
  2. How long is the run of 2.5 FT&e?
  3. Why would you want to install a length of 6mm FT&e (are you running a radial perhaps)?
  4. Why is the 2.5mm FT&e fed from a 6Amp B curve MCB?
  5. How is the 2.5mm FT&e cable run (clipped surface, under 4ft of insulation, buried in the garden)?

the 6mm is from the board to the landing are (old shower feed already on a jb) boiler is going in the landing aprox about 10m away (round corners and so on) Need to pick the power up for the boiler spur near impossible to tap off the ring. The cables run under floor boards
Im just asking for advise it’s not me doing it it’s the plumber

No need to shout old bean if you explained this at the start we would have got a better idea also heres a tip if you are going to ask any more questions please give as much info as you can.

Getting back to your question a shower, Cooker and immersion supplies are what I would term as dedicated spurring off them is a no no because I have seen it done and I have seen many a JB as you put it melted.

Okay so you want to use the redundant shower supply cable (6mmFT+e) to supply the new boiler...but it's too short so you want to extend it using a length of 2.5 FT+e and make a connection in a junction box. Plus you're replacing the old fuse that supplied the shower with a 6 Amp MCB.

Is this right so far?

Another question, what is the electrical load of the new boiler ie how many amps does it say in the booklet or info plate on the side of it?

Nothing wrong in using this method to supply a fused connection unit for a combi boiler/heating controls if the cable was only ever intended and labelled for that pupose in future most heating systems are fused down locally at 3 or 5a
