Just had a conversation with my wife about free electricity:-

If pylons are running over your land and you make a coil to get it down to 230V is it "drawing" off electricity from the grid or is it "free" electricity? Does it "hurt" the supply authority? or does it not matter?

Tel, I had to do a spell check then to see if i had the correct spelling of well! You are a wind up merchant of the first degree but i cant stop smiling. (that doesn't mean i forgive you though!)

Slightly off topic, but people do seem to have very strong views on EMF / Health type stuff (whether they actually understand the physics or not is almost irrelevant). Have a customer of mine who has been living very healthily the other side of a wooden panel fence to a very small size substation/switch plant on his estate for many years. Now that they want to sell up and retire, the poor guy has had about 5 offers all fall through he reckons because of it.

reminds me of the lad who was up in front of the magistrate for hitting his wife over the heasd with a guitar. when it was time for sentencing, the beak asked him the question " first offender?" and the defendant's brief replied " 2 other offences to be taken into consideration, your worship: one a gibson and the other a burns"
