Its actually really not confusing, its because we use the same form for everything pretty much. Renewals are sections 1, 2, 3 and 13. And everything else is described on the form next to the section number. Plus you can give us a call whenever you need help with something on the form and whoever you go through to can point you in the right direction.

It IS, because it shows you a list of occupations which I don't appear to fall into any of.
I'm a trainee electrician and a student in college, but it doesn't cater for that. It has trainee occupations which are SPECIFIC to a certain field of electrical servicing like Fire Alarm systems and Security systems. Or am I considered an 'Apprentice'? If I am, then it's still not clear as it doesn't give a definition of what an 'Apprentice' should be doing currently.

Please sort it out.

In scotland the SJIB don't recognise the Domestic Installers courses. Also this ECS safety test!!! What a load of ********!!! as all of the safety courses and tests are, why don't we have only ONE safety course which covers all sectors and ONE regulatory bod which covers all sectors and also ONE route to becoming a qualified electrician via proper colleges like the old days?
Me thinks it's all about the money they can rob from us lot!!! Also me thinks the JIB are the biggest crooks in town along with the likes of NICEIC/NAPIT!!!

I work for the JIB, ask me anything!
Why do you state on your paperwork that you will consider anyone for a sparks card, then totally NOT do it. For instance, I've been in this game for over ten years, although I only qualified in the last couple of years. Yet despite having 2330, 17th ed and 2391; the JIB only gave me an adult trainee card. Dispite two letters of recommendation from two different JIB firms, that I should be awarded a 'provisional' grade of electrician. And all because I don't have my NVQ 3? WTF!!!

do you not fall into the 'adult trainee' category?

Well I don't know. That's just my point. The occupations aren't that clearly defined on the application form.
They should have separate forms. It even combines a form for a first-timer's card with a form for a renewal!
It should all be separated and not just some black and white mish-mash of an 10-types-in-1 form.

Try to get the adult trainee card, then submit your card with evidence of qualifications gained at college for updating on the back. When you get the NVQ3 then you should get the gold card. The holy grail. Come on man, if you can handle the college stuff, especially city and bleedin' guilds, then you CAN navigate the forms.

It’s sad that you had to say no more money to them for them to pull their fingers out.
