Times are tough for many people with regards to finding work.
The 2330 teaches mostly the theory of electrical installations and is an essential part particularly when it comes to the design of circuits, you still need to learn the practical aspects and that could be done by finding work as an electrician's mate/labourer. NVQ 3 would be the next step, IMHO, after finishing your 2330 level3 (ideally with straight distinctions if you want to set yourself apart from the 5 week wonders).
You will also need to consider what aspect of the electrical industry you want to go into as there are many different specialisations.
You should be aiming to be a competent electrician (see definitions in your 17th edition regs book).
During your courses you might want to fit your 2382 in somewhere (it is easy if you have half a brain cell).
Practical experience is essential and is best learnt by working with an electrician who has been in the field for many years.

Last date for NVQ sign up in 31st Dec then it disappears for good, unless you have a work placement ect you wouldn't be signed up anyway, 2330 lev 2 and 3 are underpinning knowledge only, good quals, but you need an apprenticeship to go with it to get anywhere near qualified, then you need 2382 and 2392 or their modern day equivalents, good luvk

Thanks derek for the responce the nvq how long does that take asnd what does that intail this course does feel all theroy all though we have one night a week in the workshops its doesnt feel likle much at all. although its very early day eventually i want to be in a postion to be self employed i know this isnt going to happen for a long time just didnt want to be doing all this and at the end not be able to find work or be able to find work and be on less money that my crappy van driving job lol you mentioned doing the 2382 aswell what would that give me and how long would it take, all it is im working every hour god sends got a family and college it twice a week as it is thanks again for the advice

cheers llandrillo the other 2382 and 2392 what are these and do i need to be with a compnay to acheive them it seems i need to hurry up and get myself in the job it feels like im going to end up with a bit of paper which isnt going to get me where i want to be without working in the rade and gaining the relevant onsite experience needed which idealy is what i would love to be doing dont care how long it takes within reason but want to do it all right and be good at my trade ALSO how the hell do these people go and do a five week course and be qaulified i havnt got my head round that or is it a asda brand training course

Last day to enroll is on New Year's Eve, too late to sign up at college now so if you want to do it you need to contact online trainer like delta, but there is the new CG qual but I'm not in educational loop anymore so couldn't help you with it

The 5 week wonder courses were designed for electricians who had been in the trade for years but didn't have the qualifications, but the courses are being abused by money grabbing training providers who coach people to pass the course without giving them a full understanding.
2382 is the 17th edition regs course, if you do the course (about 10 weeks at most colleges one evening a week approx.) it teaches you how to navigate the BS7671 17th edition, amendment 1 regs book, also known as the BGB (or big green book) the exam is open book i.e. you can take you regs book in with you, you just need to understand how the regs book is laid out.

I think the 2392 is the fundamental testing and inspection course, if you have a full understanding of testing etc. from your 2330 level 2 and 3 course then this should be not too much of a problem.
There was also a 2391 course (now replaced with 2395 and 2396) which was a more in depth and more difficult testing and inspection course.

We are only just really starting testing with the work we are doing in practical and that doesn't seem to in depth at the moment so think I'm along way of doing another course yet it seems a lot harder than I first thought its my own fault really should of just got on the job and then so college a long side of it but knowing nothing about the trade I thought this would be a food route to take now I'm not sure I also found tutors at the college tell you what you want hear which annoys me cos they have obviously been in the game along time

NVQ3 is not the next step.....you do the NVQ3 in step with the C&G2330.....that way when you have completed the C&G2330....you should also have attained the C&G2356......
by the way, both the C&G2330 and the C&G2356 are being morphed together to create the C&G2357...

Done my 2330 2and 3,17th ed regs,2392 and just done the 2391 and waiting for results. Going to sign up for nvq or what ever it will be up dated to,all this up to now has taken me nearly 5years to complete and I'm sure I will have to do more after that.
