Anyone know todays version of the city and guilds 236 "c" course I sat years ago ?

Electrical Installation - Vocational 2,3 (No. 2360 )

These qualifications are intended for those involved in the electrical contracting industry. They provide the skills and knowledge necessary for installation of wiring systems and other electrical equipment, and are available in three parts - Parts 1 and 2, and Course C. Course C covers skills for those who are required to plan and supervise work. The award is recognised as a technical certificate for modern apprenticeships.

I have found this - I think this is the equivilent, with the title slightly altered...........is the 2391 the next course up then ?

So back in those days you had part 1, part 2, part 3 which was the C course, then what is part 4? I work with a spark who says he has 1,2,3(C) and part 4 but I have never heard of a part 4 before?

Back when I did it in the 1970/80's it was then the A B C courses.

As on the other thread the type of maths you need is as below

View attachment 3-33-Mathematics_v1_.pdf

This is an upto date syllabus, as late last year. as a good friend is doing it in the UK and he sent me it so I could help him out if he needed it. I asked hom to send this on so I could get an idea of what it was.

The attachment is actually a bridging course he needs to do to bring his mathematics upto date it's a City & Guilds level 3 course so I'm led to believe.

I never completed my c course, but at the time it was 2 nights a week over 2 years, approximately 600 hours, so there's no way any of these crash or short courses could match it surely?

That certificate was part of the JIB Technician grading criteria.

So if the C course no longer exists and someone wanted to be a JIB technician now, then what would be todays equivalent? Also, is there a part 4, if so what would todays equivalent be, HNC perhaps?

I asked the same question to one of the guys who teaches the electrical installations courses at my local college and he showed the course (on his laptop) he was doing internally.

The guy teaching him has a degree in maths and another subject, well out of my league what I see and given the amount of chancer' earning a living in this game, its not worth me doing anymore courses.

From City & Guilds:

Course C will only be available as a non-accredited QCA qualification after 2006

I don't know what that means!

Ok and can anyone tell me if there was ever such a thing as 'Part 4'? If so, would a HNC be todays equivalent?

Never heard of a part 4. HNC is a much broader qualification taking in different units as well as electrical/electronic modules.
Have a look at the EDEXCEL website for module information.
