following on from the above post i'll give the un-initiated a run down on the player points rating system so they dont get out of their depth

600 ish or less - complete beginer

600-800 - novice

800-1000 - competent at basic level

1000-1400 - resonably experienced

1500-1800 - very strong & knowledgable player

2000 - club champion territory

2200 - national champion

2300+ - Grand Master

2500+ - worlds top 10 players

2700 - top 5 of all time

3000 - houdini version 3 - most powerful chess software ever.

hard to say as i dont get all ---- about playing , but around 1200 ish , could get to 1400 if i had a board to analyze moves with during games.

Yep it's all coming out now I'll stick to the 800-1000 until they beat me a few times then I'll move down lol, see you there Archy, Biff see you in a few years, maybe lol

and for the love of god dont play speed chess at 10mins per move or less , you'll get killed unless you've studied opening plays.

agree, My ranking is around 1150-1200, sometimes a little over but usually in that area, I get stuffed regularly, best to play on-line chess at 2-3 days a move, much more entertaining.
